Genasi

A rare, but not unknown sight in Vallanna, are the Genasi - The result of the unions of mortals and beings from the Elemental Planes.
Some Genasi are born of mortal–genie unions, others have two Genasi as parents, and in occasional circumstances, a genie may be found much further up their family tree, manifesting an elemental heritage that’s lain dormant for generations. It is also not unheard of for Genasi offspring to be later born to those who have at some time or another been exposed to a large amount of Elemental energy; potentially from a planar convergance or through uncareful travel through the Inner Planes.
The elemental heritage of the Genasi often manifests as innate magical abilities, while their forms are usually a reflection of their mortal sides, albiet with a skin, hair and eye colouration to match the element with which their non-mortal side is associated.
Genasi are generally split between four distinct subraces; a reflection of their individual elemental heritage - Air Genasi, Earth Genasi, Fire Genasi and Water Genasi.

Growth Rate & Stages

Genasi mature at about the same rate as humans and reach adulthood in their late teens. They live somewhat longer than humans do, up to 120 years.

Naming Traditions

Genasi use the naming conventions of the people among whom they were raised. Those who later wish to form a deeper connection with their elemental heritage have been known to assume additional appropriate names, such as Flame, Ember, Wave, or Onyx.
