Fomorian

A unique set of circumstances led to the spawning of the fomorian species. Native to The Feywild, fomorians were originally a hybrid species of feytouched giants, somewhat more akin to a Half-Giant than a full-blooded giant due to their feytouched aspects and in many respects a cousin species to the firbolg. However, the corruption of Nivian changed everything. While its main threat and the devastation it wrought fell upon the elves of Briarra, it leaked through to the extraplanar realms of Valine as well, taking these gentle creatures and warping their spirits and physical forms into the ugly and malevolent fomorians. They retreated to the Underwild and now dominate that realm under the leadership of Queen Esmé.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The basic anatomy of the fomorian is loosely humanoid, however they are afflicted with such a multitude of mutations and malformations as a species that the exactly physical form varies quite widely.  The features that all fomorians share are a skin tone ranging from pale, almost translucent, white to a purple-tinged gray; wart-like growths covering anywhere from 75-95% of the body; and an enlarged, cat-like eye through which they can channel innate magical abilities. Fomorians tend towards being hairless, although a significant portion of the fomorian population has patches of stiff, wiry hair in what most species might consider to be unusual places.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Fomorians are capable of living on very little sustenance for weeks at a time, subsisting on lichen and fungi and small subterranean creatures - rats, bats, fish, spiders and lizards. However, they continually crave the flesh of larger humanoids, which can lead to frenzied attacks if enough time has passed between a feast on human or demihuman flesh.
