Nivian
The Dreadful Shadow
Nivian's creation, when Ades the Mad took an elf maiden as his mortal lover, created a force of destruction that came close to wiping out the elves in the world. Nivian's very presence rewrote the physical forms over a massive area and suffocated all mortal creatures within a twenty mile radius. All elves within fifty miles of Nivian mutated into arachnoid abominations of their elven forms. Within a hundred miles the elven population's skin turned ebony and their souls were twisted with a hatred of any elf who escaped their fate. Thus the drow were born. As the elven population in the world was, at the time, small and confined, the remaining elves and the twisted drow nearly wiped each other out, fueled by the primordial hatred of the Shadow Child.
As wholesale slaughter took the lives of many of the remaining elves and drow, Gama and Eruer stepped in and contained Nivian's essence within an unholy book, casting the empty shell of Nivian's child form beneath the surface of the world along with the remaining drow and the mutated abominations. There, the drow protected the husk of Nivian's child form while his essence remains contained in the Book of Dreadful Shadow.
