Privello

The Privello is a rare creature that nests in the few trees scattered across Keelwater Gardens. They suck in large amounts of air into the sacs located on their head and chin and once inside, the air mixes and gathers the spore-like material inside. Once ready to be released, the Privello blows it all out at once, making a kind of dangerous smog that puts creatures to sleep.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Privello resemble large wyvern-like beasts covered in feathers and with a stubby beak on their face. They also have long tails with a stinger at the end that can transmit the same sleeping poison that they can exhale but a little bit weaker than normal. Speaking of that, located on the top of their head and below their beak are 2 large sacs that inflate when full of air. Privellos will inhale air into these sacs to mix with the spore-like material inside to create a potent sleep gas which they exhale in large quantities through their mouth. On their back is a pair of leathery wings with a large circle pattern which the Privello uses for transportation.

Genetics and Reproduction

Privello reproduce sexually though it is very rare. The reason for this is that Privello like to live far apart, being scavengers so there is plenty of food to go around. Though when a pair of Privello do reproduce the female lays 2-4 eggs which hatch into baby Privello about a month later.

Growth Rate & Stages

Privello young are watched over by their parents which stay with providing food and shelter for about 2 years after which the Privello will be able to strike out on its own and start to grow to full size.

Ecology and Habitats

Privello inhabit savanna-like environments with plenty of predators to hunt other creatures so the Privello can swoop in and steal the meat.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Privello use a very interesting technique to acquire food. When they get hungry they fly over the open fields of Keelwater Gardens looking for a pack of Sharper or some other carnivorous species. They then wait for the creatures to take out a different creature like a Quaggle which is when the Privello makes their move. They swoop in on the preditors who are weakened from the hunt and releases the sleep gas. The preditors will be weakened and tired from the hunt which makes them extra susceptible to the gas, and when they are all asleep, the Privello grabs the kill in their large talons and makes their escape.

Additional Information

Domestication

Privello can be domesticated only with a lot of devotion and hard work (and a lot of antitoxins!).

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The sleep poison that the Privello can be gathered from its tail and sold for a high price on the black market, but you will probably have to kill the creature to easily acquire it.
