Boovoo

A Boovoo is a popular cave-dwelling pet but that comes with quite a risk. They sustain themselves on nutrient-rich minerals which they can fire out of their back when all the nutrients are absorbed.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Boovoo are small pink circular creatures with 8 blind eyes. They run around on their 4 stubby legs finding nutrient-rich minerals. They have a small stomach and a large mouth, which can hold a couple of rocks or minirals which they can launch out of lumps on their back as self defense. When the rock is completely drained of nutrients, and no self-defense is required, they will simply shed the rock onto the ground.

Genetics and Reproduction

Boovoo normally live in small families that consist of about 2 parents and 3 children. They reproduce sexually and mate for life, giving live birth to 2-3 cubs about once in their lifetime.

Growth Rate & Stages

Boovoo take about 4 years to fully mature, after which they leave their family to start a family of their own.

Ecology and Habitats

Due to their lack of sight and food preference, Boovoo prefer to live underground but can survive on the surface in captivity.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Boovoo eat rocks, gems, and other nutrient-rich minerals which they absorb the energy from. Once a rock has been fully absorbed with all the nutrients sucked out, the Boovoo can either shoot or drop the useless stone with small holes/lumps on their back.

Additional Information

Domestication

Boovoo are commonly domesticated and sold as pets by those strong enough to retrieve them because you see Boovoo are almost impossible to breed on the surface because they simply refuse to do it for an unknown reason, so those who want to sell Boovoo as pets for a living must brave the dangers of The Glimmering Sea every day of their life.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Boovoo are completely blind but have excellent hearing and echolocation. Their echolocation doesn't reach very far with its maximum range being 10 feet in any direction, but its it still extremely useful for the pathetic creatures who otherwise would only be able to hear and smell.
Conservation Status
It's not illegal, but killing a Boovoo is considered taboo among the citizens of Valheim.
