Reading Challenge 2022

WA Blogpost   1.Villiers by Annie Stein is a well-structured nation article that does not drag on with needless details. It starts with a short summary of the land, a little baited mystery about the song in the mountains and then goes on to give insight in geography and government. The sidebar provides specific details like demographics, area, and other important details. This is a great way to flesh out your nations without feeling you need to know everything about it or get bogged down by details. It's short, simple and get the point across.
  2. Space Mithril Soul by Shadowphoenix examines the soul as a metaphysical aspect in their world and include views from different cultures. Not only do I love the concept of different souls, I really like that the different cultures view on this is explored. I want to try and do this with some of the aspects of my world to, to get a better sense on how it's people view certain oddities.
3.Amberlie "Pariah" Hurst by Dylonishere123 is written from the perspective of the character, portraying their story as they perceived it. It makes for an interesting read and a deeper understanding for the character. I want to at least have some section of a character article be from the perspective of the character, to get the reader into the characters head so to say.
  4. Divine Gate by kitoypoy is an excellent way to structure a (super)natural law or any event. First explaining what effect the Divine Gate has on the world, then touching on how it was before that, only to give a peek into how it came to be and ending with how some try to circumvent it. I feel like having this red thread throughout the article could be a very useful way to approach most articles, not only the natural law ones.
  5. Cinder Pearls by strawberryAle delivers a magical plant that brings warmth to cold environments and a new drug to the black-market. I hope to bring more plants into my world, that might also have this magical aspect to them, to be useful in it's environment but also how take into account how crafty people might use these aspects for unintended usages.
  6. Celestial by nnie is a breakdown of the celestial language, it's magical properties and function. I DM in D&D 5e and this really inspired me to think more on the magic that system brings to the table and how it would be represented in my world.
  7. Sea Serpents by drunkenpanda951 gives an insight to a mystical species and leave many questions unanswered. Which is very common in science. It was fun to read and the whole "we have no idea how we get from point a to point b" is just funny and awesome. I hope to use the science perspective more and approach creature articles with a more "this is what the people in the world knows about this" mindset.
  8. White Forests by Naelin is an interesting take on a unique ecosystem where a specific plant sets the tone for the whole ecosystem and the cascade effects that have. I want to bring unique species into my world to and explore how that would effect the ecosystem they live in.
  9. Common Calendar by Melior, nothing much to say, I also want a cool calendar displayed in a amazing graphical way. But will use this to inspire me to just flesh out my calendar and maybe bring some small graphics to it.
  10. Nitkim by Theiket is one of the many amazing creatures Theiket made during World Ember and this is one of my favorites. Love the spookyness of it and the fun aspects to how it works. My world is one of horror and this will inspire me to bring more horrific creatures to it.

I hope to use the insights given by these articles to further expand my world. I want to flesh out how the language is connected to magic, how magic is connected to the divine and to get inside the head of the people who live in my world. I want to bring in more creatures and plants and make them as amazing as all the other creations on World Anvil.
