Anu'laben force

Initiation

The Anu'laben force has always resided within the known universe. Its existence was discovered by the Jotunn philosopher Anu'laben (circa 423). It is a natural phenomenon; a permeating force that resides within all known things. This is also called Laben's field and it allows certain animals and people to manipulate objects and non-object from afar. These objects and non-objects are referred to as elements or more accurately elements of Laben. The list of known elements can be found in this article Phaelimni. Most people do not know about this discovery, despite many of them interacting with it on a daily basis.   Anu'laben described her discoveries on Laben's field in the volume “A force unseen” the following quotes, within this article, are from this tome.
...I washed my face daily with these tainted waters. I was unaware of powders and chemical components that seeped their way into my personal reservoir. Were the quantities higher I would surely have died a slow death...
She became afflicted with many ailments, one of which was temporary blindness. After she could see again her sight had changed. Anu'laben could see the Laben field. Centuries later a dedicated group of scholars found a safer method of gaining this sight and called it True Sight. The operation is dangerous and only strong individuals can hope to not gain lasting damage.   The sight is primarily used by Outlanders. A person with true sight will see darker things much brighter and brighter things darker. This is just one of many advantages that true-sight gives.

Paradigms

...When I finally recovered my sight had changed. At first I thought to be hallucinating a faint wide spectrum of colors mirage over the world, I could see this mirage everywhere. It did not take long for me to realize there was far more to it then random hallucinations. I was the first person to visually see the Anu'laben force! I've tried to make illustrations, but this proved difficult as the strands of energy constantly shift and entangle themselves with other nearby strands...

Each "element" has different properties and require different methods to manipulate it. They all behave and, if one has true sight, look different. The concentration of this energy also varies wildly from element to element. Life for instance has a lot of it, while air has very little.

Limitations

Understanding what can and can't be done while manipulating Laben's field has always been more of an intuitive feeling, rather then a hard science. For comparison, if a person wants to simply pick up an object they can tell by the size and make of that object whether they can pick it up or not. There obviously is a gray area in between where it's more difficult to tell. Just as there is strain from picking up an object there is strain while manipulating an element that strain increases by the type and weight of the object. The main difference is that an extra force (the Anu'laben force) is at play. This force allows and aids Phaelimni control their element. The average maximum weight a phaelimn can lift is about twice as much as they would otherwise be able to lift without using their ability. Notice that this is a rough estimate and the further away an element is the more difficult it is to lift it.
...We always assumed that we've been limited by the elements directly. That's simply not the case, rather Laben's field interacts differently within what we know as elements. It also appears that some people draw in and pulsate out more energy then others. This might explain why there are families with such strong Phaelimni bloodlines. They could have been selectively breeding with the other strong families, expanding the physical limitations of an individuals capacity to harness the Anu'laben force and thus the capacity control their element. If I can find a way to measure the exact amount of force of an individual perhaps these limits could be drawn out much further...
This force is a source of energy unique to Utumn and its universe. It appears everywhere and has a natural limit to how much energy can be at any give place. It's behavior is neutral and when drained, it quickly replenishes from the surrounding area. It seems limitless to the observer, who might call it an infinite source of energy. However it doesn't behave in an infinite manner, the amount of energy that is in any given environment is maintained and has a tendency to quickly return to its point of balance.

Manifestations

Phaelimni are only the pinnacle of how this form of energy manifests itself within the world. It can directly manifest itself through a medium, this is a slow process however. That's why the Anu'laben force manifests itself most often in ore, minerals or fossils. It is not limited to only these, but because these examples take a long time to form it gives the energy time to seep into the material. These often look the same as their 'normal' equivalent. For instance if quartz undergoes this process it can become a 'wind stone'. It will look very similar to normal quartz, but it also continuously manipulates the air around it.   Those that study the Anu'laben force have had many debates, among themselves, over whether everything known isn't a manifestation of this energy. Many argue that the universe as they know it contains nothing but this force, despite being unseen, and that without it there might not even be a universe. Also, they propose that these visible instances of energy are just extremer versions of the norm. To bring back the example of quartz and wind stones, both contain energy the wind stone contains more and has bonded through an unknown process with an element of Laben, specifically the Element: Utae.

Synopsis

The Anu'laben force is a natural phenomenon; it is a radiating form of energy that resides within everything. To clarify, there is no magic within the universe, this force is just a unique property within the setting. It constantly tries to bind itself to elements of Laben and can even do so to the point where it physically changes a material. Lifeforms can utilize this force more directly either instinctively or through training allowing them to manipulate an element of Laben, these are called Phaelimni.
...I've talked to other philosophers on the topic of energy and according to them energy can't come from nothing. While I have many questions of my own, I'd like to end this book with two of them. Where does Laben's field come from and if it is constantly being used why hasn't it depleted yet?

the topic of where does the energy comes from is interesting and intriguing, which could be worthwhile to read. i wanted to know more about it.   As for the text itself, i mostly think it's an aesthetic matter; having the quotes in a more parchment writing style could help differentiate the change of writing, and also adding images to showcase that sight could be extremely beneficial. even something simple as sketches in her book.   One reference as an example i know is the Eyes of Death Perception in Kara no Kyoukai, if that can give an idea: https://s1.narvii.com/image/clt6vcz575zuvrf4ap5rztskgzssv3ze_hq.jpg   Happy worldbuilding !

The image is in the direction I'm going. Thank you, I like the parchment idea.
