Valluhgösh Manor (valluh-go-sh)

A haunted house with detailed history. Despite the dangers, the house still stands, a testament to the people of the same region.

Overview

The locals in the holler often report strange occurrences during the colder months and nights of the year around the foothills, just in their own backyards. They all agree that the Vallugösh Manor is haunted and controlled by something evil. Deaths happen in the house by boastful teenagers or ignorant locals.

Design

Structure & Build

The manor itself is composite of brick and stone, with ivy growing around it. The layout is similar to any manor at the time of its construction. It boasts a couple of small towers, a row of parapets along the main hall roof, and plenty of adjoining space.   In total it is 9,200 square feet.

Outside

The house has a lawn of green grass, a few old oaks. tall and proud. Ivy engulfs the northern portion of the manor, covering large windows when not trimmed back. A small aqueduct runs from behind the house down the slope into a fountain. Covered and uncovered walkways encircle the manor, leading to overgrown gardens of wild roses, prickly as death.

History of misdeeds

The history of the manor is storied and sad. In brief, the house has suffered tremendous loss, burnings, floodings, cave-ins, and more.

First happening

The builders of the house noticed tools would float or appear in different places. Building material also went missing. These could easily be chalked up to simple error.

First death

After moving in, the original residents realized the house itself was haunted. They called a priest who cast out the ghost or demon. Unfortunately, the entity made itself even more known, killing the priest in front of the original owners. This caused them to flee elsewhere.

Continued happenings

It was sold at a record low and even advertised as "a steal of a deal." These weird happenings occurred, though were non-lethal. Things such as religious icons, precious stones, and personal sentimental items would go missing or be found in places no one put them. Some nights some could swear they heard chanting of distant monks, and certain things would feel out of place, and the residents felt out of body.   Kitchens catching fire, walls or roofs caving in, leaky plumbing causing floods, and so much more came up more and more despite experts working on it and fixing the issues. They would come back and it was as if they had not changed anything.

Final Abandonment

The last family to live in the manor were a younger couple with 3 kids. One parent and one child perished as the family escaped from the clutches of cannibal house. The family stopped paying for the mortgage and the bank couldn't sell it again after this misfortune. The person killed was a thespian of renown and the whole country ached.   Interestingly, this final death put the manor on the map for those who lived outside of the town.

Legacy

The town is known as "Valluhgösh Town" or simply "Valluhgösh." The townsfolk don't appreciate it, but the steady flow of coin greases the palm. The names of those who perished or were maimed are etched into a monument just outside the gates. The memorial serves as a warning to others to not enter the mansion under risk of death. It is impossible to separate the manor from the town in everyone's eyes, even townsfolk. The two are forever linked, for better or for worse.
