Winter Court

"Baubles of frost hanging from boughs glow with a strange, silvery light unlike any you've ever seen. Waiting, waiting, waiting - the air is thick with a patient malice."

Structure

The Winter Court is a subsidiary of the larger Unseelie Court, and when the role of Unseelie Regnant is possessed by a member of the Autumn Court, the Winter Court generally has to act on the whim of their sibling nation. However, since all four seasonal aspects of the Feywild are eternally indebted to the five seasonal gods, the Winter Court places more reverence in He Who Brings Frost Polaris than even their own rulers. The structure of power is as follows:   Ciden -> Polaris -> Unseelie Regnant (currently possessed by King Frost) -> Presiding Archfey (also possessed by King Frost, though many duties have been passed onto his consort The Sugarplum Fairy) -> localized Archfey -> miscellaneous 'civilian' Fey

Culture

The Winter Court carries with it a culture of patient reverence, which is a jarring contrast to the other three domains. This is in no small part thanks to the philosophies of the Queen of Air and Darkness, an extremely powerful entity who was slain in wake of Genesis by the death throes of an Exandrian god. The very soul of the Winter Court believes that all will one day be consumed by the Everfrost, an eternal, immortal winter that will blanket everything within the bounds of the Near Planes. As the Court is most privy to the emotion of forbearance, those who truly believe in the words of their dead Queen will do anything in their power to seek out the Frost.   However, though they remain patient in the face of these words, the Winter Court retains a degree of whimsical malevolence. Individual fey of the Winter Court are masters of manipulation, and they can wait for terrifyingly long stretches of time to receive a payoff.

Public Agenda

Bringing about the Everfrost is the most important facet of existence to most individuals within the Winter Court, particularly the nobility. There are a few individuals (such as Jack Frost) who do not believe in the philosophies of the Queen of Air and Darkness, but the vast majority of individuals in power do hope to enact this one day. The individual spearheading the Everfrost movement is The Sugarplum Fairy - a sickly-sweet archfey with a penchant for manipulating mortals.
