The Dynastic Age
Spanning 522 years, the Dynastic Age was the era that had the most worldwide Temporan influence and was a cornerstone of global imperialism.
It emerged with the Frostburn Dynasty's coup of the Trystwelds, a highly decentralized political body that symbolized the peak ideals of The Age of Anxiety. Hadrian Frostburn, a highly ambitious High Elf noble, was able to then usurp the position of emperor.
The Frostburn Dynasty established continental unification for the first time since Astrid's rule in the early days of Temporan society. The longest dynastic rule to date (approximately 302 years), this series of elven emperors was able to unify the settlements owned by the regime prior to their own. These include the then-halfling city of Zonaius, the then-prospering port city of Oakenward, and the logging town of St. Cethleann's Landing. Necluda and Ikana Provinces were both still rife with tribal conflicts and turmoil, which wouldn’t be rectified until the outward expansion of the Riverfall Dynasty.
Hadrian Frostburn, despite his efforts to unify the “civilized” continent, was an extremely racist being who far favored humans and high elves to all others. This was primarily evident in what he did to the coastal city of Zonaius on the Faron Coast. Originally a Halfling settlement with fertile fields, Hadrian began pricing the indigenous Zonai Tribe population out through granting excessive welfare to other elven citizens and raising the costs of living in Zonaius. Thus, the majority of halflings in Uthilith now live either scattered in cities throughout the continent, in small farming communities in Necluda, or were forced to emigrate overseas to the continent of Chaelwyth.
The emperor, before his death, would enact one of the greatest perpetrations of violence against a specific Uthilithian people in the world's history - the Temporan Genocide. In carrying out this mass murder of Temporan Dwarves (reducing the population by ~80%), Hadrian would go down as one of the world's greatest villains.
The next Dynasty to come was that of the Riverfall Dynasty, whose transitory period between regimes was surprisingly non-violent. The childless Guinevere Frostburn had died quietly in her old age, having never named an heir to the Dynasty. She had an advisor in Tristan Riverfall, who would become the Emperor Pro Tempore while the search was made for a relation to Guinevere. A familial relation was never discovered, and thus Tristan Riverfall ascended to the status of emperor for life.
This Dynasty, comprised of Humans, lasted 101 years in total before being abruptly ended by a violent coup.
Tristan Riverfall figured that he would carry on the legacy of the previous regime (as he was Guinevere Frostburn’s advisor for the final two decades of her reign), and thus, he sought to encompass as much of the continent as he possibly could. Although the Temporan Empire already had control over the Hebra and Faron Provinces (including the newly established settlements of Dracowind and Chacester), Tristan decided to expand southward. After the brutal slaughter of Goblinoid tribes (particularly providing reason to why a Bugbear hasn’t been seen on the Temporan continent in years), Tristan was able to establish the Ikana city of Irieham and the Necluda city of Port Walcana. This expansion was also the point when religion began to be highly institutionalized, and worship of Achlýs was outlawed.
The transition of power between the Riverfalls and Gorecrest Dynasty was particularly violent. Unknown to Fenrir Riverfall, a group of elven insurrectionists who yearned for the era of the Frostburns was thirsty for his demise. They saw the weaknesses purveyed by both Verona and the current emperor Fenrir and sought to retake this for themselves. These insurrectionists, known only as their surname ‘Gorecrest’, utilized the most opportune day of the year to carry out their coup: Verdant Moon 11, the Eclipse of the Marauders. The Riverfall Dynasty’s guard was made primarily of sorcerers, and thus were knocked completely out of commission amidst the Eclipse. Every single living being on Capital Hill was slaughtered, and the Gorecrests began their totalitarian regime.
The final Dynasty within the Age was that of the Gorecrests, spanning a total of 119 years. By this point, the entire continent of Tempora had been unified under their flag, and Misty Run began to disseminate Watchers to every settlement within the country's jurisdiction.
The Gorecrest Dynasty was destroyed in CY 1619 by The Stonebounders after following the deaths of Mordecai Gorecrest, his advisor (and puppet of the Crawling King) Arden Riverfall, and the events of the Great Arboration.
Orion Ermendrud ascended to power by a divine right bestowed upon her by ancestor Astrid Ermendrud, and she would abdicate the throne after seven days to instill The Democratic Era.
