Great Arboration

"Edwina? It's Arrah. The streets, the buildings... they've been taken by the trees."   -Arrah Beeching, CY 1619
History
The Great Arboration of 1619 was an event triggered by the release of The Lord of the Mountain from his imprisonment in the Hebra Mountains. As the patron of Murkstone, he would take Warlocks under his wing from time to time in endeavors to free his spirit from imprisonment by The Erlkönig several centuries prior, but none had succeeded in purifying the three Temporan Ruins until Paavu Murkstone joined up with The Stonebounders.   Paavu and company had travelled to three distinct places throughout Tempora and cleared them of dangers and evil: the Spirit Temple, the Body Temple, and the Library of the Sun. Each had been corrupted by Torog's puppet Arden Riverfall, and aspects of the Lord's spirit had been hidden away in each by the Erlkönig.   Once freed, the Lord gifted Paavu a Volcanic Breastplate and called upon the wrath of nature to retake dynastic urbanization efforts. Tempora's wealthiest (and thus, most polluting) cities - Misty Run, Oakenward, Zonaius, St. Cethleann's Landing, and Port Walcana - were overtaken by incredibly rapid plant growth. These sudden plants were most concentrated in areas where Tempora's wealthiest lived, and several of Tempora's richest citizens were killed in the Arboration. Among these individuals was Pierre Simmons, a greedy Artificer who owned all of the world's Mithril mines in the early 1600s.
Effects
As the Great Arboration was concentrated on wealthy districts, those who survived spearheaded the cleanup endeavor. Thus, they could afford to speed the process along significantly from what would have occurred if the Arboration primarily occurred in poorer urban areas. Since this was in the pre-Conclave era, it's quite likely that there would have been no aid from the Gorecrest Dynasty or Watchers should the Arboration destroy lower-income parts of town.   Many members of the Acolytes of the Seasons now celebrate the Great Arboration - the 19th day of Verdant Moon - as a holiday. On this day, those who follow the Court of Seasons plant trees and honor the land they live on.
