Edwina Pennington

Changebringer's Disciple Edwina Pennington

"Avandra,   I don't know who I would be without you. Thank you for caring about me even when I was awful. You saved me and Arrah. You're the best goddess a person could ask for."   Thank you,   Edwina"

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Thanks to her Belt of Storm Giant Strength, Edwina is a literal cube of muscle. She's only 3 feet tall, and extraordinarily buff.

Apparel & Accessories

Edwina wears a hodgepodge mess of clothing and aesthetics, due to the sheer mishmash of magic items she has on her person.

Specialized Equipment

  • Enchanted half plate, since carved with the symbol of the sunflower (Avandra's icon of choice)
  • A glittering emerald set within an amulet, known as the Kiss of the Changebringer.
  • A tattered grey cloak of protection.
  • There are several other specialized items on her, but these are the most obvious at first glance.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Edwina was born and raised in the halfling farming village of Freyholde. From a young age she was sneaking away from her chores in search of adventure, leading to many a talking-to from the village elders. Her parents, Travyss and Aasholee, could see that Edwina would never be satisfied, so they saved up what small amount of gold they could and, when she was 18, sent her to the capital to study at The Academy of Ancient Studies.   From day one Edwina was drawn to archaeology, and especially the fieldwork it entailed. Soon after joining that program, she met a dark-haired, snarky dwarf woman named Arrah Beeching, who was in the same year. The two women immediately developed a legendary rivalry; even nearly being expelled on several occasions for their extreme efforts to undermine each other. In spite of that, they both graduated (on the day of the ceremony, Arrah put a small constrictor snake in Edwina's hat, and Edwina mixed acid into Arrah's shampoo), and began their professional work.   In one particularly nasty incident, Arrah managed to seal a tunnel behind her as she left, trapping Edwina in a crypt. Three days in, all hope of escape lost, she had a vision of Avandra. The goddess told Edwina that her boldness had caught her eye, and she would grant her power provided she use it to continue her adventures and help those in need. Thus began her path as a cleric; something that would remain a core part of her identity for the rest of her life. She became an incredibly powerful disciple of Avandra (if her religion were institutionally recognized by the Coalition of Religious Order, Edwina very well could have ascended to Sainthood). With The Stonebounders she helped save Uthilith a number of times from internal and external threats.

Gender Identity

Simply a gremlin - no gender, only worms.

Sexuality

Edwina is a sex-repulsed asexual lesbian.

Education

Edwina studied under the tutelage of Dr. Timothée Marr at The Academy of Ancient Studies for four years, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Archeological Studies. Her relationship with the school was rather strained, and it wasn't until her legendary adventures had ceased that she would be permitted to return to the campus to give talks and whatnot, as shockingly few faculty at the Academy have practical training in non-magical fields.

Employment

Before she attended the Academy, Edwina helped out in her farming hometown of Freyholde. Though wine country is typically very profitable, Watchers diverted the majority of profits away from the town's small population and to their own pockets - thus, it took a very long time for her parents to save enough coin to send her to the Academy.   After her stint at the Academy (she would've been kicked out of school housing on multiple occasions if she wouldn't have been homeless because of it), she began freelance work travelling the continent. However, this archeological freelance work would end after meeting her adventuring party - The Stonebounders - and realizing that it was much easier to turn a profit by exploiting the exploiters of Tempora.   Now, she runs a Moorbounder sanctuary based out of her home in Dracowind, where she also sells harmless hallucinogens on the side.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Edwina has several accomplishments, most of which she shares with her party. These include saving Uthilith from Arden Riverfall, the Crawling King, and The Erlkönig - all of which attempted to destroy or consume the plane on multiple occasions.

Mental Trauma

Most of Edwina's trauma was accrued on her journeys. The following list is absolutely non-exhaustive:
  • Watching party member Paavu Murkstone die twice: once at the hands of Jar'guk Ermendrud and once disintegrated by Arden Riverfall.
  • Seeing her enemies-to-lovers romantic interest's mental state shredded by The Erlkönig and his taking advantage due to "finding" her at her most vulnerable.
  • Her brother Thomas, moments after what was supposed to be a loving reunion, immediately latching onto Paavu.
  • Realizing that after her trip to the Shadowfell (as instigated by Scheherazade Dunyazera) that six months had passed and the world had moved on without them - except for Twiggy, who had just gotten a bit chunky.

Intellectual Characteristics

Edwina is an extraordinarily bright woman who tends to hyperfixate on the "why" and "when" - thus, she's an extreme history buff who'll infodump on you at a moment's notice. She's not the greatest socially, and sometimes she'll choose to polymorph into a Moorbounder rather than face the harrowing reality of social interaction.

Personality Characteristics

Hygiene

Not the greatest, unless Arrah reminds her of it.
