Calypso Althis-Ermendrud was born on 13 Blue Sea Moon, 1585 to tiefling expats from House Althis, a landowner family on the continent of Iacchus Argentum. Her birth was quite difficult - Calypso's mother and father were both destitute and stowing away on a cargo ship amidst the Uthilith Great Sea after a dispute with the main branch of House Althis. Her and her parents were discovered the moment the ship docked in Port Walcana, and so the new family fled town as to escape the Port Walcanan Watcher force.
They would then end up in Aguefort - Calypso's father became a merchant, her mother a housekeeper - and live in low-income housing for the majority of Calypso's adolescence. She was gifted a lute by an anonymous benefactor at the age of 13 and turned out to be quite the prodigy! Calypso became a third source of income by busking and gigging in this up-and-coming town.
On her 18th birthday, her parents presented her with a sack of gold they'd been saving and was told to "hitch a wagon to Misty Run" and "audition for the Conservatoire de Brouillard" - a musical institution of the highest caliber. She was accepted with full scholarship: that conservatory was where Calypso met her wife Orion and gained the fundamental skills to become a successful touring musician (though that as income would soon change to an adventurer's thanks to the banding of the Stonebounders ). The group would save Uthilith multiple times - once from Arden Riverfall, once from the Crawling King, and four times from The Erlkönig before his true death - before Calypso would finally retire from adventuring to begin her artistic residency in the very place she was chased away from as an infant.
