Lorien Altus (Lore-E-En All-Tis)
Geography
Lorien Altus is often called the Cradle due to its geography. The majority of the continent is sorounded by a mountain range, created by the Alethir as a defensive feature. The climate is rather average, except for upon said mountain range where it is very cold and icy. Forests blanket large areas, with a barren wasteland valley known only as the Pits to the south-east. An extensive cave network runs underneath the land, and islands dot the ocean around it.
Localized Phenomena
Ocasionally anomalous storms encompass the continent, creating temporary pockets of nightmarish and alien land inhospitable to most.
Adding to this, across all of The Cradle, you can find the predators known as beasts.
Fauna & Flora
While the life across Lorien Altus is very diverse, the one common factor is the Beasts. These creatures are a result of the land being warped by the Alethir, and take on fiendish forms designed for killing.
Natural Resources
Aside from the obvious forests and mountains, Lorien Altus contains various minerals and metals that can be found on Earth. It also has a resource known as Black Ichor, which can be used for various things such as rituals and powerful technology, as well as weaponry.
History
At one point Lorien Altus was simply a barren patch of land in the vast oceans. This changed when the Alethir used their powers from afar to terraform it. It was intended to bridge the gap between Drun'vukk and Celestal. The plan to migrate through the oceans here and build a large portal. And, for added fortifications, they terraformed a mountain range around the continent. Natural rifts did end up forming here, bringing through a large tribe of humans.
These humans scattered relatively quickly, but most of them belonged to one of two factions: the Nethalistic Collective, and the Evolden Empire. The Collective worshipped the Void, believing it would grant them evolution. They mostly stayed within a concentrated area, and built a massive temple. Eventually they started fighting amongst themselves, greatly declining and disolving into several seperate groups.
The Empire spanned nearly the entirety of Lorien Altus, but aside from some villages, they mostly resided in one city. They prospered for a while, but then the Alethir arrived. The Alethir wanted to enslave the humans, which incited a war between them and the Empire.
The Evolden Empire crumbled, and the @Chur took it's place. The church used a magical ritual to create the Hunters. The sole purpouse of the Hunters was to serve as specialized warriors for fighting the Alethir. And, eventually, the Alethir were defeated and retreated to the caves under the Cradle.
However, the Alethir's blood, black ichor, warped the land - causing the apearance of Beasts and the storms which envelop it. Eventually, the church rose to power and the Hunters started devoting their time to the hunting of Beasts.
