Uriam
A World of Division
Uriam means Division.
And there is no world more divided than ours. From the macrocosmic scale down to that of individuals, divisions are what make our stories. Differences define histories, define cultures, define class, define group, define our identities. We can only find our similarities by knowing how we diverge from others.
Therefore: Division. It is the nature of all worlds, but ours the most. Our own universe is existing alongside and in the same space as another. These two universes, Cel'estal and Myth'estal, play host to games of the most dangerous kind; those where the stake is power, and the board is existence. All sorts of powerful beings on all levels make their bids, and those unfortunate enough to be born in the vast majority of the unimportant often suffer because of it. In distant galaxies despotic empires crusade to stamp out dissent; in other planes warriors brave or inhuman make stands against relentless otherworldly attackers; and in a home familiar, humanity is burned as fuel for the fire of greed and control.
But there is hope.
Even in the face of oceans of boiling hatred, omnipotent perfectionists, companies that treat human life as a resource, and the individuals who commit the most personal of atrocities, there is hope. Hope that even though the road ahead is bleak, there is yet light to hold on to. Hope that you can cradle the dying embers in your cold hands and keep them from being blown out by the boreal winds. That hope is not always realized... but sometimes, just sometimes, it may be.
