The First Divination
Many believed that the gods had abandoned us in the face of the crown abomination. Yet they did not, descending down onto Uranon to lead us in human form.
Few would ever question the will of the gods these days. Their word is law and guidance in one. Most people merely dispute which god is the one whose words ring the truest. If only they had been born three hundred years ago, then they could have asked the gods themselves. Not that it would have helped much.
In the wake of the Liberator
In the fifty years since the beginning of what we now call the Storm Age, the face of Uranon had changed drastically. The iron grip of the Eternal Empire had been ripped apart by Faron's great rebellion. But when the Hero of Wind and Storm passed away in 53 SA, few things had been set in order. Chaos erupted across the continent, warlords clawing at the corpse of empire and liberator alike. Violent conflict raged across much of central Uranon for over a decade, threatening to undo what so many had sacrified their lives for. It was only in 65 SA when the remaining Liberators, led by Kyros the Great, intervened and restored order. A great conference was held at Faron's Keep in 68 SA with the intent to finally codify the new world order. And one among these many documents was to raise man up to the spheres of the divine.Man-made Gods
Religion was one matter that the council dedicated much of their time to. Faith of any kind had been lost in the long dark of the Void Age and many turned towards violence to fill the hole left behind. An already spreading idea, that of the old gods in a new mortal form, was adopted and made doctrine. Many cases were brought forward, but in the end, and with considerable push from Kyros, the choice fell upon five individuals to be named god. And so, the first deities of the Faronite Church were born.Area the Windborn
Once said to be the first of Faron's generation to take up the sword, Area was famous for her seeming ability to call upon the winds to aid her in battle. She is now hailed as the Goddess of Wind and Spring.

Faron the Stormbringer
Above them all stands Faron, Hero of Wind and Storm, the man who forged the rebel armies into a single blade and finally cast the empire down. Chief God of the Pantheon, his domain encompasses Sword and Plow, Mind and Body, Storms and the eternal hatred mankind has for the Uranians and their abominable empire.Foundation of Faith
The First Divination did much to stabilise the fracturing religious landscape across the continent. And while it would take another century for the Faronite Church to develop stable institutions, its mere existence was enough at first to calm things down. Two more Divinations would take place, the Second in 83 SA and the Third in 91 SA, to finally establish the full pantheon of the Faronite Faith at eighteen gods.Perhaps it should have been named Kyronite pantheon. After all, it was his voice above all that decided who was worthy to ascend.

Pillar of Glass
The first scriptures of the emerging faith were commonly inscribed into materials such as wood, stone or metal. Paper had long been discard by the Uranians for more advanced mediums and as such the rebels had neither knowledge nor means to use it.
For the Edicts of the Faronite Reformation, including those dealing with Divination, a more fitting material had to be used. Grand pillars of rare Starglass were created under great pains, each inscribed with the contents of the reformation.
Today, the fifteen pillars stand in the grand cathedral of Faranon, ageless and near indestructible.
The great reformer...Pah! Ruler of the new world he seeks to be.
Whispers of a Schism
While the Divinations did much to order the newly freed continent, they did not satisfy everyone. Kyros' voice was clearly heard in each edict read out and many balked at the man's seeming attempt to make himself lord of this new world. Some merely felt that their chosen leader had not been considered, the followers of Justan the Fisher most prominent among them.
Others saw the sacrifice of those that had first raised their blades dishonoured for only Faron and his generation of Liberators were made into gods. And then there was Tarathon the Red, the other great remaining warlord who had been barred from the council. The seeds of discontent sown at Faron's Keep would bear bitter fruit for centuries to come.

I love the principle to heal faith by grounding it in historical figure, and I can see how it would also strenghten the power they served while they lived. The article is easy to digest, even from someone who doesn't know the world. The quotes gave context and helped to hook one in. I overall enjoy this article.
