The Awinwald Republic
The Awinwald Republic was formed by the survivors of the collapse of Finorrian rule in Sennorr. Living in the harsh and deadly environment of the Breathing Wastes for generations resulted in its people developing a utilitarian, and somewhat violent culture that is considered barbaric by the peoples of the more southern regions of Dukhala. The Republic was forced to submit to the Order of Ash in 874 YD, when an army of Varoselumites and Havenforters besieged Warmshade and sent the Republic an ultimatum. This move was supposedly for the Awinwalders' own protection, but after survivng on their own for centuries, and seeing little in the way of support from Havenfort in the decades since, many unsurprisingly resent their subjugation.
