The Scions of Fate are one of the many sects that follow The Pulvis. They believe that the multiverse runs on clockwork: it is entirely deterministic and there is no point to anything. This can manifest in actively trying to stop change, in bouts of ennui or trying to demonstrate the meaningless of existence (ironically, usually in an attempt to change minds).

The Scions of Fate run Ur's prisons and sanatoriums. They also count among their number scientists, philosophers and saboteurs.
