Every Swan Maiden has a Swan Skin that is a part of their being, but also apart from their being.
It has the form of a white, light dress adorned with swan feathers, and when worn it becomes one with the skin of the wearer, by which they can change shape to a swan

A Swan Skin is a part of a Swan Maiden's being. Without it they are by all means human, and a mourning one at that.
