The Conclave Arcanus

The Conclave is less a faction and more so a membership club for mages of all walks of life. Anyone in the Realm who is magically inclined can generally apply for membership (a costly and time consuming process due backlogging). Upon acceptance to the Conclave, the members are given access to any and all conclave facilities. This includes the half a dozen or so mage towers throughout the world which serve as magical academies and archives for magical study as well as repositories for magical artifacts. In addition to the Towers, the Conclave owns and operates numerous Lodges located in most major cities around the world where various magical components and tools can be purchased or sold and boast a full alchemy lab for the construction of potions and enchanted items.

Structure

Each tower in the conclave operates as an autonomous unit of the Conclave under the direction of the High Enchanters, the senior most caster residing at the tower. He, in turn, is aided and advised by the Council of Enchanters which is comprised of seven experienced mages selected by the High Enchanter. Together the Council and the High Enchanter make all of the administrative decisions for the tower, while the day to day operations of the tower are handled by casters holding the ranks of Magus or Senior Magus. The Maguses generally serve as clerical staff and instructors for the various classes and workshops for the acolytes.
While the High Enchanter his the head of his own individual tower, the entire organization is headed up by the Archmage. The Archmage is elected from the ranks of the High Enchanters, by the High Enchanters and serves for life. The Archmage serves with two Archmaguses and together they make all of the administrative decisions for the entire Conclave as a whole.

Public Agenda

Generally the Conclave’s goals come in two different forms, neither is more important to the other in general terms, although some members of the conclave pursue one more vigorously than the other. The first is too further the Conclaves understanding of magic and how it functions, exists and works throughout the world by collecting magical artifacts, studying magical tomes and writing/transcribing spells. The second goal is to further every member’s understanding through training and instruction.

The Conclave’s values can be summarized as follows:

• Magic is the ultimate power in the universe, and the power by which the world was formed

• Magic is a gift from the Forces of Creation, and it's awesome power should be respected, understood and studied

• Those who abuse the Forces’ gifts should be punished to the extreme

Assets

Aside from collectively posessing the the most comphrehensive knowledge of magical theory in the world, the conclave also claims possession of the largest collection of magical artifacts and enchanted items known to mortality.

History

The Conclave Arcanus has existed in some form or another for nearly two millennia, ever since the Awakening where magic was gifted to mortals. The organization of the towers themselves only occurred in the last century.
