Health and Wellness

For most witches of United Britannia and Hibernia, health is not something they think deeply about; because of magic, witches are not often sick or injured. Healers are employed by the Council to stay at the Hospital as well as to make home calls.

Illnesses

Many minor illnesses (colds, flu, stomachaches, etc.) can be cured by potions administered by a Healer. The potions usually work immediately, and in some cases, a Healer may not be required if a parent or other family member is adept at potions.   Many major illnesses require both potions and Healing Magic administered by a Healer. This process may take several visits, although still much shorter than human treatment time.   Some diseases, however, cannot be cured, even by Healing Magic or potions. Diseases that cannot be cured include Mortem, some types of cancer (although fortunately, the majority can be), a type of plague, and Blood Flu must be caught in the early stages to be curable.

Broken bones

Broken bones require Healing Magic administered by a Healer and are fixed immediately. X-Rays exist in this world; however, in this case, it is a certain kind of Healing Magic that "photographs" internally and then records it according to the Healer's specifications.

Surgery

Surgery is performed by Healers with very complex Healing Magic. It often is not very invasive, regardless of its complexity.

Pain

Because of magic, pain can be heavily managed. There are many potions and spells that can alleviate pain.

Hospitals

There is only one hospital in Ilyrium, so those that live there simply refer to it as the Hospital. Hospital stays are very minimal and usually because of weakness after treatment or to die. Because of the lack of need for hospitals, only four Hospitals exist in UBH (one in each country).

Vaccines

Unfortunately, witches do not have vaccinations, although because of the ease of curing, it does not make such a difference in this world as it would in the human world.
