The Smiling Chest

The most unusual inn in the world, it has no staff in the whole place, yet money is taken for anything taken. Always clean and immaculate, well mostly, it's as if rubbish just disappears into the building itself. Many stories and rumors surround the inn, and it's up to the listeners to decide what's true or not.

drunken building

After a victorious battle against raiders, the bar was full of celebrating soldiers. Ale was flowing and plenty was spilled, the correct money stopped being taken with less and less per pint, which meant drinking increased and more was spilled. The building started to sway and large hiccups could be heard from all around the building. By the next morning, the bar had apparently moved a full district over.

No Dragonborn

During Targvisk's time as part of the Draconic Empire, Dragonborn and Kobolds weren't allowed into the inn, rumour has it that every time they tried to enter the rug would roll them back out, leaving them on their arse in the street. In response, one noble tried to have the inn burned but got slapped by several windows and doors for his trouble, much to the amusement of onlookers.

wrong room

It is said that a bandit once dragged a woman into a room, yet to be paid for, only for the woman to run out screaming about monsters a few moments later. Thinking she was hysterical due to the trauma from the bandit, and on route to sort out the incident anyway, several guards walked into the room just in time to see the bed spit out the bandit's sword. Patron's about the goliath that came downstairs, white as a sheet, stating he was never entering the building again. Someone reportedly 'awwed' and said that's a shame, though no one admitted to saying it when questioned.

Dancing shoes

In one story a shy local brought a date from out of town, when requested a dance, he explained he didn't dance, only to get up and start dancing with her. He talked about his feet moving of their own accord and not even his legs knowing what was happening. He didn't complain too loudly as he managed to get the hand of his maiden.

mimic room

During an expedition to recover the Divine Elixir, a group of Dragonborn sought refuge in the inn from the undead, apparently, the ban had lifted, they describe how not only was there a pristine room that turned out to be entirely made of mimics, but one of the mimics quickly covered one of them, protecting them from undead patrols. Another left the inn with the group, being lost in the run from the city.

Scolor theory

These stories combined with the fact that spell casters detected large quantities of magic from every inch of the building have led several scholars to believe the inn itself is a mimic colony.
