A large wooded area in north Orslon that used to be controlled by a small Draconic tribal until 122 Fey when it was wiped out during the
Rivell Civil war. In the years preceding misfortune befell any group that tried to resettle the area.
Geography and locations
The area is a heavily wooded area with a river coming in from the west and curving towards the north east splitting into several pools at the north side before continuing on, a small dirt road also goes from the south west corner heading north before curving eastwards. In between the two intersections is open farmland with the a ruined fortified town in the centre, this area has started to be reclaimed by nature after 122 fey.
Witch's Hut
South of the ruined town across the river sits a small wooden hut with a herb and vegetable garden around. This is the home of Granny Esma or Esmarelda. On the surface she's a kindly old elf women who brews potions and heal travellers for a fee. She doesn't accept gold and will often ask for favours or barter. While it is unclear when she first arrived, the hut was present before
Rivell controlled the area.
Tourlusian Watch-forts
At each point where the road and river cross each other stands a watchtower with a small walled fort with a barracks, armoury and store house. Each tower was built in the rebuilding attempt to try and protect those resettling the area in 123 Fey.
Bone yard
In the south of the forest is a large area filled with draconic and demonic skeletons. This is believed to have been from a battle during the forgotten era. A colony of wild Imps have settled in the region, scavenging from the bones and adding to them with intruders.
Giant's circle
A old giant stone circle in the northern part of the forest that was used in rituals in the past. It is believed to be dormant, though the cult of Sardia did try to use it in 132 Fey to release their mistress, summoning fiend wolves instead.
Pixie Grove
Just off the road in the south is a small thicket of trees with a clearing in the centre, with a pool to one side. Off to one side is a small camp where
Varo often stays. Small huts belonging to three pixies are hidden in the canopy.
History
Pre Era of Ages to Rivellian civil war
While very little is known about the area before the area became part of Rivell, what is known is the Giant Circle was built during the forgotten era. Draconic's also moved into the area some point during the ancient era and settled. Trade was provided from this area selling food and wood while importing materials from the mountains. By the blood age when Rivell first came into the area the village served as a base for several farms, and lumber camps in the central area, with a population of
Elves and Draconics.
The area allied with the new commers providing trade and information about the area. This allowed the area to remain unchanged till the civil war. In 122 Fey a group of hobgoblins attacked the area, killing the whole tribe, before being killed themselves.
Resettling
In the decade after several attempts to resettle the area failed. After the first group of settlers disappeared Grand Duke Chalres built two watch forts at each end of the grassland to help protect it. This failed as the next group were found dead in their beds. Six other groups either disappeared, died or abandoned the area. In 132 Fey only half a dozen ranches existed in the area, one of them being attacked by a strange wolf like fiend that could petrify it's prey. A hunt was called as the other families were pulled into the walled town for protection.
Though the hunt was successful by
Heffy,
Monty,
Karldrai, and Varo, the area never recovered with only the watch-forts and Pixie grove being populated.
