Prelude to Shadow's Light

Flykir Merrick Looked across the high bridge over Drake's way, "oh how these heathen's love trade" he thought as his men crossed. The journey south had gone without hitch so far, though the Divine army had kept tabs on him as they travelled through, he spat at the thought, that empire was no longer divine.
"Flykir, we have a problem" a errant murmured causing Merrick to look up, his fist had stopped, awaiting orders, the other side of them stood the White Army, in the lead was a man clad in dark red plate with his arm's crossed. "looks like they won't let us just pass, I'll deal" A pang in Merrick's mind gave him a splitting headache, undead, the knight was undead and a powerful one. He charged his horse forward, orders be damned, this could not be allowed to stand.   His horse collapsed flinging him flying, but how, that the divine magic of Akoom, how did this unclean monster cast it. As if sensing his thought the knight laughed "Boy I've been killing since your ancestor's were slaves, your 'Gods' magic is just the magic of conviction." the thing walked towards him. Merrick felt nothing but rage for this thing, he sounded almost bored, how dare he not take a Flykir of Akoom seriously. Merrick got up and charged with his divine blade, only to have it taken from him and the pommel smashed into his head. "Stay down" the monster ordered "I'll excuse your aggression as you reacting to my condition, but attack again and I'll take this seriously" "you undead filth" Merrick spat "we are passing through to deal with Rulfim's shield"
"what a coincidence I'm heading that way" it continued "I'll escort you"
"We are true paladins" Merrick started before being cut off
"There are only two members of your order I have respected, and even then questionable so, only one of which is still alive and neither belonged to your zealot kingdom. Now I am escorting you with my guard to the south, or you can all die here" the sun clouded over, allowing the creature to remove his helm to reveal a handsome, but strong looking vampire "Prince Malkav?" Merrick stuttered, he'd heard rumours, but this was the first time he'd meet one of the 'men' said to be equal to the angels. Merrick sighed in defeat "fine"
