Geneviève (Gen-a-vieve)

Queen Geneviève Basqar (a.k.a. Jack of Hearts, Roseline Toussaint, The true Queen of Basq, B**** of Basq)

The Immortal Queen of Basq, Geneviève has been manipulating the situation in Rivell for over two thousand years. Considered beautiful, she became obsessed with her looks and living forever. By the end, 'human' was a loose definition of what she used to be.

Early Life

Born the youngest of three to the King of Basq, Geneviève was taught the basics of court life, but mostly overlooked. She found solace in escaping the palace and messing around the docks of Ormons, finding her love for the tribal drums of the Lizardfolk from the east. During this time she was said to be a happy, playful child.   This changed when her sister Aurore came to the throne when Geneviève was Seven. To remove rivals, her Aurore had her brother killed and tried to do the same with Geneviève, who escaped in a cart. Upon being discovered she was sold to a half-orc looking for 'recruits'. Trained to be a spy and assassin, Geneviève quickly became this 'Harliquin's' best student.

Jack of Hearts

By fifteen, Geneviève was a master of The Game, slipping through every circle of society as if she belonged. Destabilizing the Paladin's might in the south, she even was able to kill Queen Lazuria, though she framed the Harlequin. For the next five years, Geneviève sowed decent and confusion throughout Rivell. Finally seeing an opportunity she went back to Basq and murdered her sister as well as her family. Her weapon of choice was a chained knife.

Blood Queen

Among the books in her sister's personal library was research on eternal youth and extending one's life. At first, she dismissed it till she heard servants calling her the scarred queen when they thought she wasn't looking, her body covered in scars from her training. Re-reading her sister's research and discovering she could use blood magic to heal those scars, she first took those youthful servants who mocked her.   Coming out of the process looking youthful and healthy again, she decided to keep going. Organizing raids throughout Undinia and further east, disguised as pirates, she built The Princess Tower on Ormons to hide her research, and retreat so as to not arise suspicion. She also started looking into other ways to give herself proper eternal youth, though this would prove fruitless at first.

Deal with the Fey

Hearing rumors of a Fey glade in the Dread Forest, Geneviève did research into Fey deals, however by the time she was ready news came through that her old mentor, somehow immortal herself, had killed the creature with paladin help.   The chance would resurface during the Rivell revolt of 130 Blood. When a letter was delivered from an unknown source with a summoning ritual for Fey, even those killed, and a true name. Traveling north, she performed the ritual, and in exchange for life and access to Undinia, Geneviève would be granted eternal youth.   Unfortunately, the tensions between Basq and Rivell led to the conquest of the former. Geneviève was imprisoned in her own tower, to live out the remainder of her days. She was approached by a mistress who sent her the original letter, offering her aid in exchange for fealty when the time came.

Shadow bard

By 300 Blood, Geneviève had not only escaped her cage but ingratiated herself at the Duke of Basq's court. Using this position as a power base she continued her generation hoping tricks, using disguise magic to assist her. Biding her time she made sure to keep the two duchies of her old kingdom united.   Throughout the Chroma age, she had ensured the Ducual line of Basq not only had a strong claim to her own throne but Rivell's as well. She also showed seeds of distrust in the north due to the still very Akoomite culture they had. Rumors circulated that the Duke or Duchess had taken her current persona as a lover several times, though only one pregnancy happened, towards the end of the first century Fey. Though the baby disappeared almost immediately after birth.

Crisis of the Fey age

As the Crisis of the Fey age kicked off, she persuaded Basq to stay out while Rivell sent minimal support, she did try to get Rivell to send more but couldn't without exposing Basq's own reluctance. She had, however, gained full control of the weak Duchess of Basq and her consort by the second century.   Once The Purple knights started committing troops to the west, Geneviève saw her opportunity and took it. Quickly discovering the group Grunkle's Angels were looking for her. Using the majority of the group's lack of knowledge of the game against them, she was able to capture them and imprison them in her tower. Only for her son Stephan, to free them and devise a plan to deal with her.   While consorting with her strange mistress, she was assassinated by Stephan, using his own chained knife, coated in wyrm poison.
