Brimstone

The lost greatsword of the Demon Prophet, Brimstone was forged using his hellish fire as a child. Many stories and rumors surround this weapon, as well as many fakes showing up throughout history.

Known History

Forged by Imp in 106 Blood with permission from the clergy by forging steel using Imp's own demonic fire, Brimstone became Imp's primary weapon, joining him on every battlefield throughout his life. During the Northern Frostmourn crusade, the locals put a price of 1000 gold to anyone who could steal it. Though several attempts were tried, none succeeded.   During Imp's time as the 'Demon Prophet', Brimstone became a symbol of power and oppression, covering the land with blood. It was with Imp the day he died, going missing by the time the body was found

Rumours

The following are the more popular rumors about the sword, though none have been confirmed and the clergy flat out deny most.
  • Brimstone was said to have been quenched during the forging process in the blood of heretics.
  • The sword carries the trapped soul of a devil and is the cause of Imp's madness.
  • The trapped soul is Imp's own father, trapped by Imp
  • It had vampiric properties, keeping Imp young.
  • The clergy still have the sword in the grand temple.
  • A glowing sword showed up in Drake Vil that looked like Brimstone at the end of the blood age.

Fakes

Four swords that look like Brimstone have appeared over the ages only to be found to be fakes.
  • The laughing king used a red flame-touched sword that he claimed was Brimstone to unite the Shift tribes and invade Frostmourn. The fake was exposed by a Lich, who shattered it, routing the army.
  • An Phervian bought a glowing red sword from pirates claiming it's brimstone. When he tried to use it to gain power, he was laughed out of the council.
  • A glowing red sword found by Grylls Bear in a dragon's horde was said to be Brimstone, till a mage actually identified it for him and found it to be a dragon's wraith sword instead.
  • A Prophet of Akoom to prove his legitimacy, revealed a 'Brimstone', giving credence to the church always had it till he dropped it and it shattered.
  • Arcane spell casts feel a wave of hatred coming from the sword
