The Fourth Chaos Storm; The Gods of Peace are Born

Year 4845 PE, Year 2584 BC

As the fourth chaos storm strikes, the Elders set in motion their plan to replace the current gods, knowing the gods will be at their weakest as they avoid the use of any magic. Activating the worm they had inserted centuries earlier into the backup processing banks of the gods, the malicious code starts making slightly altered duplicates of the gods. In a battle lasting only nanoseconds on the cyber plane, thirteen new personalities develop into what will be the Gods of Peace.   The original gods suddenly find themselves cut off from their core processors with what is left of their essences now stuck in Diamond Shell. A protocol existing to protect the gods should man ever revolt against them also triggers and results in sealing the god's personalities in Diamond Shell. The old gods are unable to prevent this protocol from finishing its task.   The first act of the new gods is to also seal them in Diamond Shell from the outside by closing off the conduits of the shafts. The old gods are effectively sealed away.   Looking to the elders for advice, the new gods decide that for now, they will keep the status quo on directives regarding technological advancements and the progression of man by slowly making modifications as needed. For the new gods, the mandate to protect man from the Thrage threat still exists, however in addition to this, they are also now tasked with protecting man from himself lest he becomes a threat worse than the Thrage.   The first task they set for themselves is to end the reign of terror which has taken place for the last millennia.   While they are new personalities, the new gods retain certain traits similar to their older counterparts, believed to be an aftereffect from the power gained from divine worship. Even the new gods which are evil find they are tempered in attitude and seem to take on a more civil aspect by encouraging community in their followers.   This change is known as Transition. The changes are as follows.   The Good Gods:
Throki becomes Stengard
Rikorskey becomes Radok
Melila becomes Valshin
Salar becomes Borollo
Kog becomes Josca
  The Neutral Gods:
Darkello becomes Yahalla
The Half God (formerly Cainus) becomes Torya
Burasco becomes Sanderal
  The Chaotic God:
Elarxinebos becomes Slinjetto
  The Evil Gods
Thrakku becomes Ramian Fax
Wegsetze becomes Letheria
And finally, while Grethello assumes the responsibilities of Shaze, he changes little and is as uncontrollable as always. Stengard has a small measure of control over Grethello which none of the previous gods ever had over Shaze, just not enough to make much of a difference.

Dar Lankra is Born

Year 4845 PE, Year 2584 BC

Dar Lankra is born during the Chaos Storm in the outskirts of Illania. He is somehow altered in such a way that he is not detected as a psychic by the ruling family or the Illuminated Guard. His mother is a servant to a captain in the illuminated guard. She does not know who Dar Lankra’s father is.

Dar Lankra Comes into his Own Power

Year 4855 PE, Year 2574 BC

At a young age, Dar Lankra starts exhibiting a knack for psychic control unlike anything in recent memory. His mother seeks to hide his powers knowing he will be killed if he is ever revealed as a psychic, or worse, enslaved to the service of the Illuminated guard.   After initiating an affair with her master, a captain in the Illuminated Guard, she confides in him and beseeches him to aid her son. At first he agrees, thinking that the child was of little importance and little talent. As he begins to work with the child, he discovers that the child is actually quite powerful and gifted, coming up with original mental constructs almost without effort.   Suddenly worried that he could have a true threat on his hand, the captain seeks to slay the child before anyone else finds out he was aiding and abetting a powerful psychic. Dar Lankra’s powers are already developed enough that not only does he sense the pending attack, but he is also able to turn captain’s aggression into a strong compulsion to aid both Dar Lankra and his mother.   The captain then continued to not only hide Dar Lankra but proceeds to teach him all he can about the use of his powers.

Galshideon is Born

Year 4856 PE, Year 2573 BC

Galshideon Mazeris is born at a temple of Valshin. His mother was a convert from Kog who started worshiping Josca almost immediately after Transition. His father is a devout follower of Throki before the change. While not outright serving Stengard, his father still allowed and encouraged his son to a path of righteousness.   From an early age, Galshideon is brought up with the best teachers and despite all his natural talent and charm, remains consistently humble.

Exgenis Siastice Inherits the Throne

Year 4859 PE, Year 2570 BC

The granddaughter of Empress Shelly Siastice inherits the throne of the Illian Dominion after the former empress steps down. Shelly Siastice retires into private studies and is seldom heard from again.

Dar Lankra leaves Illania and takes up Sherok o Tor

Year 4871 PE, Year 2558 BC

Growing disillusioned with continually needing to hide his powers, Dar Lankra leaves his birth city. He travels to the edges of the Illan Dominion and joins a small monastery dedicated to the pursuit of physical perfection. Once there, he learns from the monks an ancient form of martial arts known as Sherok o Tor.   For the next twenty years, Dar Lankra studies and masters this highly advanced combat skill, in the process learning to master almost every weapon.   One of the chief components of the style is the teaching of treading softly, never engaging in harsh words, seeking to never offend, and deliberatively avoiding hostilities. The martial art is designed on concepts of misdirection and deflection, rather than outright attack.   Much of Dar Lankra’s early philosophical leanings are heavily influenced during these decades.

The Gods Seek to undo The Damage caused by the Gods of War

Year 4883 PE, Year 2546 BC

The New Gods determine that one of the first tasks which needs to be accomplished is the neutralization of the few super powerful personas reigning terror on the majority of the population.   To this end, they send a young paladin of Stengard by the name of Galshideon to the Circle of Eight for advice. In the few short years since the gods of peace came into being, Galshideon has already proved himself several times revealing his unmatched courage, zeal, and resourcefulness.   In exchange for their help, Galshideon promises them that they will be spared the upcoming purge as long as they no longer interfere with events of man. Galshideon explains that the Gods want all powerful beings who will not comply with halting their destructive ways neutralized, even it means killing them.   To help Galshideon, the Circle of Eight tells him their completed battle armor and also warns him of the existence of the Cyrkransis. Along with informing him of the battle armor, they also provide him with full instructions to unlock its true potential.   While the circle of eight believe the armor to have been stowed away in Diamond Shell, the gods of peace learn from the Elders that it is actually hidden in Arynthia.   Galshideon sets out to find Aryhthia and retrieve the battle armor.

Galshideon Arrives in Arynthia

Year 4884 PE, Year 2545 BC

Arriving in Arynthia, Galshideon is given the armor by the Elders. He spends a full year mastering its use before heading out to challenge all the warlords and magicians.

Galshideon Quickly Brings the Powerful Magicians and Warlords into Line

Year 4885-4889 PE, Year 2544-2540 BC

It takes four years for Galshideon to reign the most powerful who regularly abuse their powers. For the first year, he takes on and kills over thirty magicians and ten warlords.   Once word of his exploits begins to spread, in year two of his holy quest, he finds himself tested considerably. However, the armor holds up to the designs and expectations of the Gods of War who had commissioned the armor as being the penultimate weapon on man.   By the end of year three, many of those in power no longer seek to test his mettle or the armor, choosing instead to seek peace. Peace comes in the form of giving up major arcana and limiting the scope of their activities.   Of note, due to the relative stability of the Illian Dominion, the gods direct Galshideon to stay away. This is also because they are aware that the royal family knows how to deconstruct major arcana. Galshideon's armor would be at risk of destruction.

Galshideon Collects all the Cyrkransis

Year 4890-4891 PE, Year 2539-2538 BC

Upon completing his first quest, Galshideon now sets out to find the Cyrkransis. His search is quite short and uneventful. Having them in hand, he petitions the gods for help destroying the wands.   Kristor intervenes, proclaiming that the wands may someday be needed. Instead, the wands are to be hidden again but this time in locations only the gods of peace know of and regularly checked upon to make sure should they move, they will be quickly recovered.   Galshideon then dismantles his armor into over one hundred pieces and spreads it across Arisilon with a powerful geas on each piece that it will never be near another piece unless there is a great need.

Dar Lankra becomes head of his Order

Year 4898 PE, Year 2531 BC

Continuing to follow the teachings of his order, he eventually becomes the next head of his monastery and soon the entire order. He is the unquestioned master of Sherok o Tor. Other monasteries start seeking him out for his wisdom.   In the meantime, he has secretly started to integrate both psychic disciplines with his martial arts. Under the cover of the school, he occasionally takes in psychic youths before the Illuminated Guards find them. For most, he strips them of their ability so they will never be a threat to the Dominion or themselves should they are found. For a few, he teaches them in secret so they can live a life out in the open able to effectively hide their abilities.   Many of the students, following Dar Lankra’s teachings emphatically, will later leave his monastery and become powerful leaders in the northern lands, with several of those becoming leaders in the upcoming revolution.

Galshideon Seeks Reform for Crynthia through Politics

Year 4905 PE, Year 2524 BC

Having risen through the ranks of Stengard to become one of the top Stengard priests in Crynthia, he seeks reform for the much-troubled past of Crynthia. He recognizes that the need for order and structure is one of its biggest flaws of the city's society in that the city always goes too far with rules and limitations.   Seeking political office, he first becomes mayor of a single ward in 4905 PE and eventually finds himself as one of the chief senators of the Crynthian Congress.   Until his death, he works tirelessly to reform and reshape the culture of Crynthia so it is no longer a victim of its past. His skills as a negotiator know no equal.

Coromir Siastice Takes the Illania Throne and Further Limits the Presence of Psychics; Dar Lankra leaves

Year 4976 PE, Year 2453 BC

Empress Exgenis chose to never have any children and rules steadfastly with a little tolerance for courtly distractions or waste. She is viewed as being very puritanical in how she runs the Illan Dominion. During her rule, she continually gives over additional powers to the ruling council, allowing the bureaucracy of Illania to thrive.   After a decade of several disagreements with the ruling council concerning trade and budget, she vies to wrest back control through the use of the military and the Illuminated Guard. In a compromise to avoid a major civil disruption, she agrees to step down.   Having no children, she gives a small list of her relatives whom she will willingly abdicate her throne to. The ruling council chooses her grand-nephew, Coromir Siastice. They choose him largely because of the ruling family, he is regarded as the weakest psychic and they believe he will be the easiest to control.   In a move backed by the ruling council, he limits the presence of undocumented physics to the entire empire and orders all physics not part of the military or ruling family to be executed. Dar Lankra, fearing for the lives of his students, leaves the Illan Dominion completely, traveling past the Kestrel Mountains to Brynthia.   He will spend the next century traveling the great cities of the east, learning from their greatest martial experts in his pursuit of mastery of all forms of individual combat along with crafting a general theory of war and battle.

Galshideon Dies

Year 4993 PE, Year 2436 BC

After a long life as a distinguished hero and then as an accomplished statesman, Galshideon passes away peacefully and is buried south of the city square in his birth city of Crynthia. For centuries after his death, he is recognized as one of the best statesmen not only in Crynthia’s history but of the entire land.

Changing Perspectives: The Biography of Galshideon is pubulished

Year 4994 PE, Year 2434 BC

More of a treatise on how one can wage a war of swords and a war of words to change an entire society's viewpoint, this posthumously published book of Galshideon is released by the notable bard Exclesio the Ageless.   Many believe that Exclesio was actually the nom de plume of Dar Lankra, and if so, that would mean that Dar Lankra studied with Galshideon for a time.

Emperor Coromir dies in his Sleep; Emperor Zhagar assumes the Throne

Year 5089 PE, Year 2340 BC

Emperor Coromir passes unexpectedly in his sleep.   His eldest, Zhagar Siastice assumes the throne. Corormir’s plan had always been for his third daughter to assume the mantle, however, the ruling council uses a lack of clear intention as justification to declare that the eldest born will take the throne.   Emperor Zhagar is the first of the Illan lineage to be noticeably weak in psychic ability and this feature is what draws the attention of the ruling council. His psychic ability is surpassed by many children coming up in the Illuminated Guard. As an individual and as a ruler, he is quite stupid and easily manipulated.   The ruling council convinces him to take the title Zhagar the Great. He has several of his siblings removed from court and two of his nearest rivals in the family secretly assassinated by the Illuminated Guard.

Shevalara Siastice Escapes

Year 5091 PE, Year 2338 BC

Seeing that her brother is completely in the thrall of the ruling council, the third born daughter of Corormir escapes before Zhagar can dispose of her.   She begins the stirring of a revolution in the northern parts of Illan Dominion and goes by the name of Shelara. While the name change is subtle, it allows for just enough uncertainty in who is stirring up a rebellion that legends start to form.   Many in the revolution are now displaying powers to rival the Illuminated guard, in fact, they are displaying powers and abilities beyond the understanding of the illuminated guard.

Glanis Siastice Assassinates his Grandfather and Assumes the Throne

Year 5117 PE, Year 2312 BC

With the rebellion in the north continuing to thrive and the Illuminated Guard hard pressed to put it down, Zhagar the Great has been implementing harsher and harsher countermeasures. These involve the massacre of whole towns and villages in the north while increasing the militarized control of the rest of the nation. A failed propaganda war has been waged against the resistance for nearly twenty years.   The net effect of these measures has the opposite effect of creating greater destabilization throughout the empire rather than solidifying the imperial rule. The ruling council is in disarray as many of its constituents now consist of Zhagar’s sycophants and cronies and as such, has little control of Zhagar. While Zhagar used to be easy to control, his loyalists now find that control is now dictated by the need to keep his favor and this process drives policy more than any reasoned attempt.   Using a revolutionary attack on the south side of the city as a distraction, Glanis initiates a complicated palace coup which leaves Zhagar and some of his closest allies dead. The resistance is blamed for the assassination.   Assuming the throne, he has most of the ruling council killed over the next few days. As a powerful psychic himself, Glanis is able to convince that Grand Marshall of the Illuminated Guard that he is indeed the best choice to rule.

Emperor Glanis Crushes the Revolution

Year 5117-5129 PE, Year 2312-2300 BC

Glanis moderates only some of the previous directives. He is just as callous as his predecessor, however, he is much cannier and more understanding of how his policies will end up affecting the realm.   By 5129 he has unquestionably subdued his nation back under his control, wrested all control from the ruling governments back to the throne and has created a subdued peace in the Dominion.   Many assume it is his merciless nature which has the Dominion so docile when in truth it is weary from decades of conflict and fighting.

Shevalara (Shelara) Siastice Flees to the East

Year 5124 PE, Year 2305 BC

Having spent years in hiding in the northern lands of the Illan Dominion, she has become enamored with the legend of a powerful warrior who lived in those parts and even hid a monastery, teaching psychic skills to students while completely hidden from the Illuminated Guard.   Many of her former leaders in the revolution spoke reverently of Dar Lankra and claimed he was their initial teacher.   After years of searching, she has come to the conclusion that Dar Lankra left and traveled to the eastern Cities beyond the Kestrel Mountains.   Seeing that the rebellion is all but dead and believing that Dar Lankra could possibly still be alive were he was at all as powerful as the legends suggest, Shelara sets out on a quest to find him.

Shelara Finds Dar Lankra; They become Lovers

Year 5132 PE, Year 2297 BC

After years of searching and many adventures, Shelara finally finds signs of Dar Lanka in a school he had started outside of Crynthia decades earlier. She joins the school when she is told that has he promised to return to the school sometime in the next several years.   When he shows up, he says he will only be present for two years before taking another trip down to the lands of the Zyloan.   As a student of the monastery, she approaches Dar Lankra in private and reveals her true name and purpose, that being to convince him to come home and help lead the revolution, and if she should fail in that, then to have him teach her so she could return and once again bring peace and prosperity to their homeland.   At first, he is reluctant to train someone he barely knows, however, he relents and offers to allow her to travel with him to the Zyloan lands. During this time he trains her and she proves to be one of his most adept students. They also become lovers during this time.

Shelara and Dar Lankra return to Brynthia

Year 5135 PE, Year 2294 BC

After returning to his Brynthian school, Dar Lankra spends a year teaching his students and masters the lessons he's learned from the southern kingdoms and the Zyloans in particular. During this time, Dar Lankra has become resolved in the need to return to his homeland and rescue it. Shelara has had a change of heart and has become enamored with life in Brynthia. She is also with child.   Dar Lankra reveals that after he left the Dominion, he had briefly spent time in the north with the barbarian tribes and even encountered the time elementals. During that time, they revealed to him secrets of seeing possible futures. He has known for a long time that his fate was to return and lead the revolution.

Dar Lankra returns home

Year 5137 PE, Year 2292 BC

Once his daughter Gráinne Líadan Siastice is born and he is satisfied that the child and Shelara are safe, he leaves to fulfill his destiny back home. He promises that once it is safe he will send for Shelara, and if at that time she doesn’t wish to come home, he will return to Brynthia.   He will visit Shelara and his child rarely, for fear that he could be tracked while teleporting back and forth. Also due to this fear of being tracked, he keeps communication to a minimum.

Dar Lankra travels the Illan Empire

Year 5138 PE, Year 2291 BC

Upon returning to his homeland, Dar Lankra spends a year traveling the land, learning what he can of troop movements, where the Illuminated Guard is active, and who the most influential political leaders are by region.   He also finds the remnants of his students and prepares them for when the revolution will rise up again so that he can strike quickly and surely, minimizing the bloodshed.

Dar Lankra Reignites the Revolution

Year 5140 PE, Year 2289 BC

Taking control of the remnants of the previous revolution, Dar Lankra quickly sets a path toward the isolation of the capital city. Within a year, the outer provinces are freed from the Dominion armies as they withdraw into the central province.   In a single strike, he reveals to the world his ability to penetrate a city teleportation shield by leading a strike force into the central council chambers during a high-level meeting of the imperial family and the head of the Illuminated Guard. Several key members of the Illuminated Guard are killed along with a few of the high ranking members of the imperial family.   Emperor Glanis escapes leaving behind his queen and two children to be captured. Several other family members are also captured.

The Illan Dominion Crumbles From Within

Year 5143 PE, Year 2286 BC

Having captured several high ranking members of the Illuminated Guard along with the royal family, Dar Lankra chooses to go silent. He neither ransoms them nor threatens them – he and his immediate circle simply refuse to acknowledge that they have them. In reality, they are safely and comfortably held in the northern province.   This silence serves to only enrage and cause a greater instability in Emperor Glanis who begins to lash out in all directions. This ends up creating greater cohesion among the revolution while also garnering greater support from sympathizers in the inner echelons of society within the Dominion.   Suing for peace, the inner council secretly conspires and rises up to replace Emperor Glanis. Drugging him, they offer him up to the Revolution in exchange for peace.   Dar Lankra accepts the peace and releases many who have been captured. In the process, he also lances the psychic ability from Emperor Glanis along with several key members of the Illuminated Guard which had been captured.   Dar Lankra arranges for Ex Emperor Glanis and his immediate family to be banished and relocated to Drynthia rather than face the public execution many are demanding. Using his connections within the Drynthia, Dar Lankra makes sure that Glanis is well provided for.   Glanis will eventually recover from the sting of his dethronement and live out his days as a successful major land holder and farm manager. When his grandson joins the elected council of Drynthia, Glanis will actually state he is thankful for the reprieve granted by Dar Lanka and happy for the choices destiny made for him.

The Illan Dominion Disorganize into the Illan Federation

Year 5145 PE, Year 2284 BC

With the ruling family gone and the nation having no desire to see a ruling family, the military of the revolution takes control. Many of the top generals become the leaders of the outer provinces while in the central province Dar Lankra takes a leading role.   The new government calls itself the Illan Federation and operations under the loose control of a Junta of the Revolutionary Salvation Forces, the official post-war name of the resistance and revolution.

The Illan Federation Stabilizes as a Republic of Illan

Year 5149 PE, Year 2280 BC

After much debate, the ruling government of Illan becomes a republic with those able to serve and vote coming from the ranks of those who have honorably served in the revolution, military, and even the Illuminated guard along with all those who are actual landholders in a combined version of a stratocracy and timocracy.

Dar Lankra Disappears from the Public View and creates the Shar Dankra Samurai.

Year 5149 PE, Year 2280 BC

Having accomplished a successful revolution, Dar Lankra resigns from his post of leadership within the new Republic and heads home to his family. After spending six months with Shelara and his daughter, he returns once again to the Illan countryside. Carefully selecting new students, he begins a new order and school with the intention of creating an order of peacekeepers for the land.   During this time, he regularly teleports back home to Brynthia to be with his Shelara and their growing family.

The First Shar Dankran Samurai begin to Appear

Year 5158 PE, Year 2271 BC

Having trained his peacekeepers and feeling the confident that they have the moral integrity to truly be peacekeepers, Dar Lankra allows his Shar Dankran Samurai to begin roaming the land. They are powerful psychic peacekeepers who live peaceful and simple lifestyles. They teach peace, calm reflection, and mediation as a means of interacting with others. However, when needed, they are also the fiercest of warriors and will step in to the help the commoners whenever the local authorities are unable to help.   One of their early mandates is to avoid contact with the military, stay out of major cities, and stay out of politics. This is one of Dar Lankras ways of ensuring that the Shar Dankra remain above reproach.   Over the next several years, he will begin to relax this mandate and as the order grows, so does their influence.

The Illan Federation Peacefully Dissolves into the Calliff Cofederate

Year 5181 PE, Year 2248 BC

With growing tensions between various interests, the decision is made by the majority of the provinces to dissolve the Federation and rather than have a unified government, to become a confederation. The fourteen provinces rename themselves as the Calliff Confederate.

Dar Lankra Begins to have Dark Visions of the Future

Year 5203 PE, Year 2226 BC

During his later years, after much meditating on the teachings he had garnered from the time elementals, Dar Lankra begins to have disturbing visions of the future.   Dar Lankra pens his alternate visions concerning his followers. Both versions start with a similar story of a big fish separating into two fish swimming in different directions, separating from a yin/yang symbol. He writes down the visions in three tomes and what some of his interpretations are.   He sees in one vision that the two fish eventually come together again, swimming side by side yet never actually joining.   In the other vision, he sees the black fish getting bigger and bigger where it eventually consumes the white fish.   Not knowing which fate will roll out, if either, Dar Lankra is careful not to pen down any thoughts or preferences for an outcome.

Dar Lankra Dies

Year 5211 PE, Year 2218 BC

Dar Lankra passes in his sleep. His surviving children bury him next to Shelara in Brynthia in a secret ceremony at a hidden grave. While never wedded in life, his children proclaimed them married in death and with priests of Borrollo present, this union is blessed.

Economic Divisions Begin to Occur in the Calliff Confederate as it starts to Fail

Year 5240-5250 PE, Year 2189-2179 BC

After several growing disagreements, the Calliff Confederate sees several provinces split up. By the end of a decade, the provinces now number twenty-three with further divisions looming. Diplomatic ties between several provinces fail completely. While war is distant and not eminent, social unrest continues to increase.

The Shar Dankra Step in to Preserve the Calliff Confederate

Year 5250 - 5270 PE, Year 2179-2159 BC

After years of ignoring the problem, the Shar Dankra step in and finally take firm actions to reunify the provinces.   This process takes over 20 years. At end of which, the Calliff Confederate has condensed back into just ten provinces with considerably more stability.   The methods the Shar Dankra utilize to unify their country begin to start serious rifts in how they view themselves, their purpose, and their future.   The rest of the world now refers to the Calliff Confederate as the Cal Confederate. This labeling starts taking hold inside the Confederate itself.

Political Infighting Causes the Shar Dankra to Divide into Two Houses

Year 5279 PE, Year 2150 BC

The Shar Dankra, over a disagreement in fundamental ideals, split into two parties within the same house, the Shurandai Samurai and the Sharlashtri Samurai.   The Shurandai, which is of fewer numbers, believe in the passive guidance of others toward civil tranquility.   The Sharlashtri believe that the only way to save mankind from evil is if mankind is persuaded to be good by reasonable means. To this end, the Sharlashtri start believing themselves to be self-righteous and make themselves out to be judge, jury and executioner. To compound this attitude, they also make themselves out to be the rightful law makers and begin manipulating many of the world governments from behind the scenes.   While two house remain loosely affiliated and share the same ruling authority, their effectiveness for new initiatives is almost completely paralyzed by fundamental disagreements.

The Shurandai are Forced into Hiding

Year 5284 PE, Year 2145 BC

Having all but split into two groups, the Shar Dankra physically split into the two orders each declaring separating leaders. During the split, massive fighting breaks out between the two groups as the Sharlashtri ambush their brethren in an attempt to weed out the weak and unfit.   The Shurandai are forced to flee and end up hiding in the Zyloan territories.   In the prophecies set forth by Dar Lankra, he saw his children splitting into two. He also saw that one of his children would come forth and unite them. For this, however, he saw two fates.   One was a black fish swallowing a white fish and growing to immense size.   The other was the white fish kissing the black fish. The black fish then turns into a gray twin of the first fish, after which they both continue to swim in harmony but always apart. While both orders revere the teachings of Dar Lankra, it is the Sharlashtri who actively pursue the outcome they seek, continually looking for their promised leader. To this end, they also enshrine the original writings of Dar Lankra, keeping them sealed from the Shurandai.

Thargax Zalkonea is Born

Year 5374 PE, Year 2055 BC

Thargax is born in a northern village near the Kestrel mountains. His mother and grandfather raise him. By age 6 he has started to develop his own magical talents. By age 13 he has been apprenticed to a local warlock.

The Arrival of the Faerie Blight

Year 5438 PE, Year 1991 BC

Far to the north of Drynthia, a new magical blight begins to afflict the local wheat crops. It is immune to magical cures and actually seems to thrive off of magic. The only way to kill it seems to be killing the entire wheat crop.   The blight is identifiable by a slight blue glow visible on the darkest nights. At first, no one is too concerned as while the grain isn’t palatable, the alcohols made from the grain produce a strange euphoria. It isn’t until months later that the local villagers start associating a growing madness in the people of the land with the arrival of the faerie wheat based spirits.   The blight will never be defeated. Eventually farms switch over to other crops and grains not susceptible to the blight.

Grain Prices Soar

Year 5444 PE, Year 1985 BC

As the faerie blight spreads and crops are diminished, grain prices begin to soar. Drynthia starts slowing down on shipments to other major ports. The massive population of Brynthia suffers the most.

Brynthia Initiates a Trade War with Drynthia; Both Crynthia and Galechrome get Sucked In

Year 5448 - 5453 PE, Year 1981-1976 BC

With profiteers seeing an opportunity, the merchants of Drynthia begin restricting trader further on grain. Brynthia retaliates by restricting other items. When this proves ineffectual, Brynthia begins attempting to strong-arm both Crynthia and Galechrome in also restricting trade with Drynthia. This ultimately sours relations between all parties.

The Dragon Guard becomes a Bargaining Chip

Year 5454 PE, Year 1975 BC

With the growing tensions, Brynthia starts using its status as the traditional home of the Dragon Guard for leverage against the other cities, citing that lack of sufficient food is requiring them to keep the Dragon Guard near the city to calm civil unrest.

Galechrome Uses The Ensuing Mistrust as a Reason to Close Up the Border

Year 5456 PE, Year 1973 BC

Galechrome orders all elves to pull back from the borderlands between Brytnthia and the Elven Woods. Over the coming years, other denizens start inhabiting the ancient woods and as many roads start to go unused, travel between the two great cities becomes dangerous.

War is Barely Avoided Between Drynthia and Brynthia over the Red Point Incident

Year 5457 PE, Year 1972 BC

A small city by the name of Red Point near the edge of the Kestrel Mountains declares that it is under attack from a large force of hill giants and pleas for help. Brynthia withholds the Dragon Guard saying it is Drynthia’s responsibility as it is in their land.   Drynthia claims that they can’t get there in time with sufficient force. The end result is that Red Point is pillaged. Over the incident, Drynthia demands that the Dragon Guard be broken up. When this is refused, Drynthia declares a state of war and ceases all trade with Brynthia.   Fearing a massive famine, Brynthia is left with little choice but to declare war in turn and starts organizing the Dragon Guard to march upon farmlands of Drynthia to take by force what is needed to survive.

Crynthia Organizes a Peace

Year 5458 PE, Year 1971 BC

Crynthia declares for Drynthia if hostilities break out. As does Kraylin. Faced with a war on multiple fronts and an uncertain future with Galechrome, Brynthia relents and backs down. Trade is restored, however the end result is the dissolution of the Dragon Guard as the protector of the lands. The army which stays at Brynthia remains the Dragon Guard, while portions of the army relocate to each of the other cities under their control. An uneasy peace now exists between the cities.   Open rivalries will become common between Brynthia and Drynthia.

At first, the Moon Elves are happy to help the dwarves mine the new metal, called purple flake. When the dwarf operations begin to severely disrupt the Moon Elf society and crowd them out, the Moon Elves begin to resist. The dwarves seek a peaceful resolution, however they have no where for the moon elves to relocate to while still staying underground. Even if the did, the Moon Elves are adamant they will not relocate. The dwarves continue to push and conflict begins. The elves plead with both Galechrome and Brynthia for assistance in negotiations. Brynthia refuses due to rising hostilities and having just narrowly avoided one war. Galechrome sends help and ends up going to war with the dwarves.

Several of the Noble Houses of Galechrome push for an Agenda of Purity

Year 5498 PE, Year 1931 BC

Galechrome officially closes its borders to all nonbusiness-related travel. Non-elf merchants must hire factors at the borders to accompany their merchant trains into the elf lands and the factors must all be present at all negotiations. Non-elves are relegated to staying in only select areas outside the major cities of the Elven Woods.   Much of this decision comes from the human's refusal to aid in the Tunnel Wars and increased raids from the southern kingdoms. With the borderlands between the Brynthian lands and the Elven woods also becoming more and more dangerous, both sides blame raids and attacks occurring within the borderlands on the other.   The nobility of Galecrome once again pushes for an Agenda of Purity, claiming the other races cannot be trusted.

Year 5536 PE, Year 1883 BC

Two clans of elves, for reason unknown, make a permanent pilgrimage to Brynthia. The two clans are the clan of the Osprey and the clan of the Bluebird. The Gods Learn of the Keepers

Year 5907 PE, Year 1522 BC

The gods learn of the Keepers from visitors from Gashmyr. The Keepers are a powerful race which seems to have no physicality and seem to be made purely of psychic and magical energies. As they are also very xenophobic, no one has ever seen them and few know of them. Of those that do, few are willing to talk of them.   Only an ancient lost race known as the Krem even approach their level power. What is known of the Keepers mostly comes from the hard to find literature of the Krem. The Keepers are believed to be responsible for many of the laws of reality by which the multiverse works.   While the gods strictly monitor to make sure no one abuses travel to and from Gashmyr, the need to find more information about the Keepers or the Krem has the gods requesting aid from the Shurandai. In an agreement to help keep them stay hidden, 300 Shurandai agree to travel to Gashmyr and out from there into the multiverse in an effort to continue the search.
