Tars Background

Tars Evermoor, raised in a nomadic fishing tribe, learned to honor faith, family, and friendship deeply. Born to the Grey Claw tribe, he learned to hate the Black Crow tribe as all the Grey Claws had before him. His best friend and closest challenger was Rafe Bentgrass. Where Tars was slightly stronger, Rafe was slightly more clever.   A couple of days before Tars’ chieftain ceremony, Tars entered camp to find a raging argument with his father and Rafe at the center of it. His father, the retiring Chief, claimed that Rafe had entered a conspiracy to destroy the Grey Claws with the Black Crow. Rafe protested, but they cast him out of the camp. Tars, sure they had done it without honor, tried to argue, but eventually left the camp.

Above by Ginger, what follows by Bryant   The last 3 years have been interesting for Tars. At first, he found life difficult outside the tribal customs he was used to, however the need for money and sustenance drove him closer and closer the Chrailis.   Always looking for other orcs or orc friendly people, he finally joined a band of wagon guards, making routine trips back and forth from the city up to the halfling farms miles away on the plateau. This allowed him to continually stay on the move, however it also afforded him a good opportunity to stay in contact with other ‘city’ orcs.   Between treks, he would venture into the more erudite parts of the city, quietly asking around to see if maybe Rafe wasn’t making his way and continuing his studies there. He would also venture up and down the river, seeking out the wise men and wise women of the villages, hoping to hear any word of his friend.   Then about two months ago, someone recognized the name Rafe.Yes, there was a younger male orc who practiced magic. He had been frequenting a library on Lister Street near the winery district. Good information, unfortunately there were multiple libraries in that area with none on Lister street.   He found the library in question. Rafe had been frequenting it for the last few months, however he had not been seen in a few weeks. After a little more investigation, Tars found that Rafe had been working for Diggel and Sons Porter Company for that last year or so.   Feeling he was getting close, Tars went and got hired on with the porter company only to find out that Rafe had excepted a freelance job with a few other porters to someone from the Alchemical Guild.   The closer Tars got, the more intense his desire to just find Rafe became. Not content to just stay at the porter company, he began asking around for jobs which might be related to the Alchmeical Guild. That was when a hawkfaced older man with no humor approached Tars.   Introducing himself as Zurrelevants, the majordomo to a well known Sorceress, he offers potential and rather lucrative employment to Tars. Tars quickly accepts the job.   On the job just two days now, Tars finds out very little about his employer and just a little about the majordomo. He is supposedly short on humor and from what Tars has heard, there are a few rules.Do not ask him about his nose or ears. And most importantly – do not ask him how important he is– he’s killed men for that.Tars may not understand why, however he understands what he shouldn’t ask.   During his two days of employment, he has been instructed to stay on the grounds until needed. He has been sleeping in a common sleep room with other servants and guards and eating meals in the servants kitchen. He has minor knowledge of his way around the 4 building compound and its two inner courtyards.   At the start of the game, he is sitting at a large wooden table in a small windowless room with dark wood paneling. On the table are several candles and rolled up scrolls.Around the table are several empty chairs. After waiting about 15 minutes – Zurrelevants opens the door and steps aside allowing a dashing human to enter who, with a beaming smile, introduces himself as Graykar.
