Magician - Ultimate Wizardry

Mostly human, these few individuals surpass all others in magical abilities, both in skill and ability. They have been compared to men walking as gods.   Whereas wizards focus on learning spells and understanding the laws of magic, while sorcerors tend to channel magic without fully understanding it, magicians pull from both aspects, easily meeting the criteria of both.   A magician is born with an innate talent to channel levels of magic unavailable to the vast majority of the population. It is estimated that maybe one in 10 million have this level of raw talent. Added to this is the ability to understand the deepest levels and mysteries of how magic works. For a magician, they could easily be said to have an unconscious understanding of magic. All magicians are great scholars and possess vast intellects.   Most high-level spells were initially designed by a magician. In game terms, it might take a wizard a lifetime to craft a single high-level spell (7th level or higher), especially if it can be deemed highly versatile. That same spell might take a magician mere hours to conceive and put together. Magicians can modify spells on the fly while crafting lesser spells as needed.   Again in game terms, it is not unheard of for magicians to cast spells beyond the 9th level limit, spells which might be classified as 10th level and above. For instance, Thargax Zalkonea - probably the most famous magician, routinely has at his disposal several 12th level spells.   Because many of the magician's spells are so heavily modified, they can't be learned by others. Magicians will sometimes gift spells to others, however, when they do so, they are often crafted so lesser talents can utilize them or sometimes crafted in such a way that only the intended user can ever utilize the spell.   The history of magicians is a violent one. Before Coalescence, they were far more common especially during the Age of Aggression. Their birth and training were encouraged by the Gods of War as a means of further strengthening and testing humanity as a whole. A single magician was easily the match for a whole army.   How much the gods actually played in the creation of magicians can only be speculated. What is known that after the Gods of War were sealed away, new magicians were almost unheard of.   It would be the Gods of Peace who made it one of their priorities to rein in the chaos and destructive natures of magicians. They did this by more or less putting a death sentence on each magician if they should ever again get out of line. After that, the surviving magicians utilized their powers sparingly and with great care not to cause mass destruction.   Only two magicians are known to exist After Coalescence on Camoray. One is Emperor Thargax Zalkonea who transferred across from Before Coalescence and most recently, the Light Thief. While little is known about the Light Thief, Emperor Thargax has proven over the centuries to be both reflective and gentle in nature, though capable of immediate action if ever needed. As a benevolent leader, he has led his people to great prosperity.
