Elf

Elves were originally proud guardians of the forest, and are struggling to remain relevent in this industrial age. Many elves are still around which remember the coming of the industrial renaissance, and many remember the times before in their sheltered homelands. Some try to hold on to their proud heritage, some take adavantage of the current economic climate, and others simply struggle to survive in a world that no longer wants them.

Elves can't live without nature; they must surround themselves with trees and growing things just as much as humans need to breathe. This means, for most elves, living in a city is a death sentence. So some elves collect on communi, large orchards or parks dotted with simple structures that serve as homes. Far from the great forests they are used to, these allow them to hold on to their traditions nonetheless. Other elves have adapted to the new age and taken advantage of their longevity, living in villas on orchards or vinyards which produce some of the finest wines and fruit in the world.

Other elves, those who were driven from their homes and who are welcome nowhere, travel in large nomadic groups or daci. They drape themselves in colorful fabrics and carry perfumed powders, setting up castras in alleyways or common areas of the city. Here they ply their wares, selling charms, trinkets, and potions of many kinds (though of dubious effect). The most common service offered by these dacia is medical aid for those with undiagnosed ills or troubles of the mind, treating them with strange powders and poultices. They can be hired for various odd jobs, though general mistrust of the daci and their tendancy to leave colored dust and the strong scent of perfume wherever they go limit potential employers dramatically.
