"Though a fearsome beast indeed, there is no other birds you can convince to clean your house. Just don't leave any other of your pets around if you expect them not to be tidied up as well."
Named after the deadly
Cavvannar, this dangerous predator is more than happy to consider human its prey. Severely pushing the limit of what can be considered animal intelligence Cavvanna Birds are often accused of being actually evil. Placing regard over whether or not this creature should be considered an animal or as something more supernatural. Despite this, no respectable evidence has been found to prove them of being the result of any malignant forces with their appearance being quite uniform within both pure and tainted eviroments. They do however survive much more easily than most other natural creatures in environments of high preternatural corruption.
Morphologically resembling a corvid the size of a small dog, it is widely considered to be a descendent of that family of mournful crows.
Cavvanna Birds have a gruesome hunting strategy. Generally being smaller than most of their prey they get around this by diving into them with their razor-sharp beaks and proceeding to tear them up from the inside. The only merci of this being of their tendance to go for the heat making things quite quickly.
Fortunately, Cavvanna Birds are quite rare creatures. But this has not stopped a dedicated effort from most people to actively wipe them from the world wherever they can. As such, they mostly occupy ruins and other such places that people fear to tread. But in places where their presence is common, it is a widely adopted practice to wear padded clothing and gambesons when venturing out into the wilderness.
When attacked by a Cavvanna Bird the only real course of action is to attempt to break the creature's neck as quickly as possible. Though ideally, the best defence is a constant vigilance against the presents of these Dread Birds.
Despite their fearsome nature, Cavvanna Birds can actually be trained and domesticated. In fact, becoming so with incredible ease when compared to most other animals albeit still a very dangerous prospect. The only requirement is that you can show them that you are a better as a source of food than food yourself. When such a thing is accomplished they function with a mentality not too dissimilar from that of cat. Coming and going as they please and being resentful of any attempt to keep them from doing so. However, they can still be quite loyal if treated right and their high level of intelligence allows them to be trained to an extraordinary degree. Most notably Cavvanna Birds can be trained to read in a limited fashion or even perform basic household chores such as cleaning. Unfortunatly, expecting the latter of them will require a regular supply of edibles in order to keep their cooperation.
