History

Eras, the capital city of Uisgern Province, has a rich history that has positioned it as a center for technological development in the known world. Centuries ago, Eras began as a small coastal village, founded by a group of visionary scholars and inventors seeking a tranquil yet intellectually stimulating environment. The founders believed that the proximity to the sea would offer both inspiration and resources for their pursuits.   The Early Years: In its early years, Eras was primarily a haven for thinkers and dreamers, drawn to the promise of collaborative innovation. The College of Kinderven, established during this time, became the heart of intellectual pursuits. Scholars, engineers, and artists gathered to exchange ideas, leading to the development of advanced techniques in boat building, instrument making, and agricultural practices.   Eras's location on the coast played a pivotal role in its technological development. As the fisherfolk and boat builders of Uisgern honed their skills, Eras became a hub for maritime innovation. The city's shipyards produced vessels that could navigate the fierce storms of winter, enabling safer and more efficient fishing expeditions. The invention of specialized nets and fishing techniques further increased the yield, turning Uisgern into a major supplier of seafood to neighboring provinces.   The College of Kinderven fostered a culture of knowledge exchange and experimentation. Scholars from various disciplines collaborated, leading to breakthroughs in agriculture, medicine, and even rudimentary mechanical devices. The city's commitment to education attracted brilliant minds from across the provinces, establishing Eras as a renowned center for learning.   As Eras entered a period of technological renaissance, advancements in metallurgy and engineering flourished. The city's craftsmen and inventors created intricate clockwork mechanisms, enhancing the precision of various instruments. Agricultural innovations, such as automated irrigation systems, improved crop yields, making Uisgern's produce highly sought after.

Geography

The geography of Uisgern is relatively flat, although not the lowest point of the Empire. There are long rolling hills further inland that give way to grassy plateaus. The land generally slopes downward  as it draws closer to the Carswell Basin.

Climate

Eras is sunny, breezy, and generally pleasant to live in, although the city can be exposed to fierce storms in the winter that blow in off the sea.
