Vayren

Tidemaster Vayren

A God of Energy

Vayren is one of the Anfangsir, and one of the three original Gennunvasir. His Lakkunvasir counterpart is Iberren, as both are beings essentially made up of the fabric of their planes, and they has a close relationship with Ild. Vayren is considered the most powerful of the Gennunvasir, and had the most significant role in the plane wars that began when Gennun and Lakø met.

The Origin

In the beginning, Vayren was but a thought floating in the mists that were Gennun. At the inception of the multiverse as is known, that thought solidified into a being which is now known as Vayren. It is thought that the mists of Gennun were created by two now-forgotten planes which housed Ild and Ikthun, though their relationship is unknown save that both were in Gennun for Vayren's formation and have no prior memories.

The Plane Wars

The Plane Wars began as Gennun began to expand across the space that would become the multiverse at the same time as Lakø. Vayren was at the helm of this expansion, desiring that magic be known across as wide an realm as possible. When both planes bled into a border, the Lakkunvasir and Gennunvasir discovered their matches, and their opposing goals led to a vast war across the multiverse.

Creation of the Planes
The Åndsplanean

The Åndsplanean, or spirit planes were created in the initial battles of the Plane Wars, the third of which birthed Modspel and the sixth created Stürt. The two new realms were created of the ichor spilled on the unclaimed border between the two previous realms and each formed closer in geography and character to the realm whose gods had spilt more blood in that time. These new realms served as battlegrounds and forward positions for the Anfangsir and, without the care for the Åndsplanean as for the gods' home planes, the battles there became much more intense.

The Sortplanean

The final battle of the Second Plane War, which began upon the creation of the Åndsplanean as the gods were forced to find doors between their realms and those of spirit, was the Battle of Kildane, what is now the capital of Stürt. During the battle, Vayren broke from combat along with Ikthun for long enough to get the drop on Dornam while Ild held a retreating position. The combined power of the two gods, and Ikthun's relative lack of utility to Dornam, allowed them to cleave Dornam's essence and shatter his physical body, the latter of which scattered over both of the Åndsplanean.

This act released enough energy that it created both of the material planes, the Sortplanean, and the death of Dornam forced the retreat of Iberren to Lakø, now outnumbered three-to-one. With the other two gods functionally vanquished, Vayren and his fellow Gennunvasir began to spread their influence further over Sturt, and across the Sortplanean, eventually flooding into part of Modspel.

The Third Plane War and Great Cataclysm

A third war erupted when Vayren led the Gennunvasir to Modspel, and Iberren, with the aid of a still-healing Dornam, flew out to hold the line.

Vayren had, upon the retreat of Dornam in the ongoing Battle of Vrak, become absolutely fixated on his battle with Iberren. In that time, Dornam had begun a rite to draw much more power than he could reliably control from Mitvort and, upon its completion, Iberren retreated to Lakø, and Dornam engaged all three of the Gennunvasir.

Dornam's offensive succeeded and his power grew as he sapped more and more from the Gennunvasir, eventually grievously wounding Vayren, whom he had caught off guard, and, with a presumptive final act, Vayren manipulated the Tide to force Dornam to lose control. The ensuing eruption of power cleaved the realms apart, no longer seaparated by mere porous membranes, but by walls of magic and the fabric of the multiverse.

The Age of Mortals

In the time after the Great Cataclysm, the gods were forced back to their realms, and with Vayren and Dornam deeply wounded, the remaining gods accepted the status quo.

Vayren healed slowly, as did the Tide itself, and eventually renewed efforts to spread the influence of the Gennunvasir across the planes, being careful to avoid Modspel and only brushing Mitvort. After a few centuries, under petition from Dendera, who they had sired with Ild only two centuries prior, Vayren created mortals to inhabit Mitvort and Baladen, and blessed them with the power to bend the Tide at times.

Lyzander Baefestin

In the year now known as 522 Roihme Coilleskog, a mortal named Lyzander Baefestin lived in the path of a flood. Upon hearing his prayers, Vayren took pity on the man, and guided him to a point at which the original door between Gennun and Mitvort laid. At that point, they helped guide Lyzander to the helm of a great Kingdom, aided by a wellspring of magic they had provided.

Magic

Vayren is the god of the Tide, the currents of magic that influence all the realms. All living beings require some piece of the Tide to survive, and in that way, they are one of the pillars of life in these realms.

After their assistance of Lyzander, Vayren has remained mostly hands-off, though the moon created by his ichor has allowed mortals on Mitvort to tap much greater magicks than Vayren had though possible when they granted that power to those living there.
