Government
The resident lord of the city is Lord Raffin Harparr, responsible for the governance of the city proper.
Governor Giles Gylley is the resident noble responsible for the governance of the northern parts of Orlond.
A variety of other nobles and elites live within the city, responsible for any number of government responsibilities and city management. In addition to nobles, a council of guild members and other factions debate and vote upon local legislation, similar to a city council.
Defences
The city is protected by standing soldiers of Orlond, numbering about 150 strong. In addition, town guards numbering about 46 help maintain peace and order.
The city is surrounded by strong, stone walls, gates, and towers, and acts as the last stance of defense for the northern part of the kingdom.
Industry & Trade
Shieldsworn is the largest trade center in the northern parts of Orlond, able to engage in commerce from both the land and sea. From the water, various fish and crustaceans are harvested, while from the land, food, wood, and minerals goods are imported from the surrounding towns and villages. The city takes pride in its docks, as it represents the largest access for sea trade in the area. The city is well known for its ship building, constructing the bulk of Orlond's military and merchant fleet.
Shipwright's Nook - the main ship construction business in town, which brings the pride and joy of it's people and also represents the largest source of jobs for many of the people in the city.
Silver Unicorn Inn - an upper class establishment which caters to the more wealthy visitors to the city.
The Laughing Gull - a moderate establishment for rest, food, and drink. Caters to the middle class society of merchants and guilds within the city.
Thali's Ale House - an establishment which caters to the laborers and working class of society. The dwarven owner is know for producing quality drink, which keeps its clientele thriving.
Shieldborn Smith - a local blacksmith shop which sells arms and armor.
Tuna Fin General Store and Tackle - One of the more popular general stores in town, offering any number of items one would wish for.
Guilds and Factions
The city is home to a wide variety of guilds and factions meeting the necessary needs of the people living here.
Guilds range from ship building, to various smiths, fishing, and many more.
The city possesses many temples which tend to the spiritual needs of its people, in addition to hosting annual events and celebrations.
