KLO Promotion

Sonni: Mimi, congratulations on promotion to KLO-2. As you were with Search and Rescue team 2 last year, KLO-toon has been appointed your S&R department Supervisor. To begin with, the reports you send will be similar to what you have been doing as a KLO-1, however, they will be specific to the tasks and connections of the S&R department.
Another change is that while I will still look at your reports from an academic perspective, KLO-toon will focus more on the content and layout of various reporting styles, more suited to the S&R department.
Remember that you are an apprentice here, so keep that in mind as you work. You will continue to be sponsored an exchange student for the rest of the year, then you will move to an internship in either the S&R department, or if you are able to be promoted to KLO-3, whichever department you choose then.
  Good luck.

KLO-toon: Mimi, good to have you again. Provide there are no more tea incidents, we'll all get along fine.
To begin with, I'd like you to write a report on your promotion ceremony. I expect your reports to be more in-depth than previous reports. Particularly in the case of our department, we need as many details as possible. Viewpoints of different people are important to note, however, the more you can separate facts and stories the better it is for the people analysing and searching. The first few reports I'll give you are to practice this, so give it your best.
I'd like you to add some context to your promotion - what is it, why is it important for a KLO to be promoted and what are the different levels of KLO.
  Let's work well ~

Observation Log of KLO Mimi Lakes: KLO Promotion Ceremony

Strongmonth the 10th, Year 53 of the Century of the Nymphs, 26th Cycle
Knowledge Liasion Officers (KLO) are employed by the Council of Turien to work within Turien, working directly for them, making sure that the world runs smoothly, as well as documenting it all. Much has been lost in the first few generations of each race, and yet there are things about our world that don't make sense when you think about it, so documenting what goes on in the world was deemed important. As a KLO continues working for the Council and gains experience in the work that they do, they transition to a higher level of KLO. Each transition is formalised with a promotion ceremony.

KLO Levels

KLO have nine levels of rank within the Knowledge Liaison System (KLS). The first level (KLO-1) is the traineeship level. Technically, there is a stage before that - to get to be a KLO, but that is often done with other bodies that then send you to the KLS (and half of this is just an online course). The next two levels (KLO-2 and KLO-3) are apprentices of a particular department. Normally, you would pick a department to train under when you are promoted from KLO-1 to KLO-2 and stay there for at least until you finish your KLO-3 term. Sometimes, people will end their KLO-3 term and retrain in another department, though they have to start as a KLO-2 again, sometimes as a KLO-3, depending on how close in work and responsibilities the work is. The next three levels (KLO-4, KLO-5 and KLO-6) are completed in the department where you completed your KLO-2 and KLO-3 terms. You won't have a training Supervisor anymore and will be able to climb the ranks in the department. Outside of the KLS, this looks like you are no longer a student or intern, but a fully employed employee at a company and are getting promoted through working hard.

The last two ranks are very special. Many people only get to KLO-6, even if they are working hard. To get to KLO-7, you need to be a leader as well. To get to KLO-8, you are able to run a company by yourself. To get to KL0-9, you have to be lucky to be alive whereas the previous KLO-9 is not.
Or the KLO-9 retire. Either way, there are only three types of KLO-9 ranks known to me.
And only KLO-8 or KLO-9 are able to watch a Council Meeting. Maybe a KLO-7 or two, but what if they are just secretly a KLO-9 in a secret position? I don't know.
I do know that not all position types go past KLO-7. For example, the Search and Rescue department. The highest level is a KLO-7 and they are not in active search and Rescue duties, but they are the most knowledgeable of the department and have really good administration skills. I am even being forced to read some of their reports in order to emulate the report structures.

Taegrin: ... that's not quite right. KLO-9 isn't just from replacing dead people like you are making it sound! They have proven their qualities over and over again.
Mimi: Fine.

Taegrin: You think there are more than three different KLO-9 positions?
Mimi: Do you think they would tell us everything from the start?
Taegrin: That's a good point.

KLO Promotion

KLO promotions are small, well-respected ceremonies in the KLS. Unless you are related, good friends, or being promoted to a KLO-7 or higher, there is almost no chance that a Council Member will join. Normally, your supervisor or manager will attend, as well as your closest peers or co-workers in the KLS. The ceremony will have a higher level KLO confer your promotion, usually your next supervisor or manager.
The ceremony is held in a free room. A portion of the Council's Code of Conduct is read out, followed by a portion of the KLS manual. Then, your previous supervisor (or manager) tells of your greatest work so far. Then the new supervisor (or manager) will place a necklace over your head. This part is similar to a conferment of the medal a Hero gets at a Hero ceremony, except this isn't a medal, but a new employee card. The actual important bits to KLS are hidden in plain sight on the card, so any KLO can find what you are, but outsiders just see your position. Then the new supervisor will say what they are looking forward to. If you'd like a photo, this is the time.
Then, after standing that whole time (approximately 20 minutes, although it does depend on what your supervisors say) there is food. Often, other acquaintances will come and congratulate you here, cause food is yummy and free food is easier to eat.

My Promotion
My promotion was a relatively small ceremony, even for a KLO-1 ceremony. Supervisors Sonni and KLO-toon were there, as was Taegrin. The other members of Search and Rescue (S&R) team 2 came and congratulated me afterwards though. And so did Council Member Adira Mayder. She made some cookies and had a message from her sister, from AB. My employee card just says I'm an exchange student. So it looks a little bit different than Taegrin's intern card, cause mine has to suit Turien University's style. Still, I was able to get the pink version so I will wear it and show it off to Magenta.
There were three tables of food after my ceremony. One for mains, one for cookies and one for spicy things. Both the hot spice and Spice spice (as well as fake Spice). They didn't have any of Hoen's specialties or the new recipes from AB, but most o the food was yummy. I ate a lot from the Spice table, obviously. The cookies were good too. I think Council Member Mayder made some of them, cause of how she was looking at me when I ate them. They were better than the last ones I ate. he might get good at this.

Conclusion

I am a KLO-2 who just went through their first promotion ceremony. I will be climbing the ranks as far as I can and thus will have many more promotion ceremonies. Council Members don't typically come to a KLO-2 promotion ceremony, so I can't expect them until I'm a level 7 KLO, unless I make better friends with Council Member Mayder.

Supervisor Sonni Feedback

Be aware of who your audience is and what perspective you are writing from. You can have 'story sections' in which you change POV, as long as you make that clear. Switching between academic and personal styles through your report isn't what should be submitted as a final report. You can submit early as a draft if you need extra help.

Supervisor KLO-toon Feedback

The subheading for your promotion is good. Use those more if they will help keep your report flowing from one idea to the next instead of jumping around and forgetting what the focus is of the entirety of the report.
    Council Notes
Have fun getting to know Mimi, Adira. I will be watching with a bucket of extra buttered popcorn.

Taegrin: Congratulations again, Mimi, on your KLO-2 promotion.
Mimi: If you congratulate me again, will I get another present?
Taegrin: ... I'll take you to dinner.
Mimi: Yay!
...
I'll find Reagan, I promise.
Taegrin: Okay. Just look after yourself while you do, okay?
Mimi: If I need a break, I can go see Diplomat Indra Mayder - she sent me a coded message about her turtle in the letter.
