Jade's Grandfather
Jade's grandfather is a Dryad that decided to try his hand at farming approximately 300 years ago. Then he decided he needed a rival. Everyone in Farming Village A look forward to the produce at the yearly Farmer's Market that these two farms compete with.
Although Jade has issues with her father's side of the family (as anyone would when they wish to dissect you), Jade does get along with her quiet grandfather. He, too, enjoys having Jade as a granddaughter, in part because Jade reminds him of his late wife.
So, when Jade requests to have a birthday party on his farm, he obliges. She was excited that she has made long term friends (that she doesn't have to hide her complicated racial background from). He promised to look after all the planning and running of the event so Jade could simply enjoy herself with her friends. How much of that was fueled by wanting to up [up show] his neighbours that just had a birthday coming of age party for their son.
