Summary
Nightmarish creatures spawned from Oukranos, an ancient god of the Dreamlands. Among this deity's domains are madness and the unchecked propagation of ideas. Its progeny draw power from these concepts as well. Every Son of Oukranos is a powerful mentalist, able to manipulate physical matter and sapient creatures' thoughts using only the pulsing brain they bear in place of a true head. Perhaps their most dangerous ability, however, is that of energy conversion. Any supernatural power brought to bear in the presence of a Son of Oukranos sees its nature shifted to that of a psychic matrix instead. This, combined with the Sons' capability for manipulating said matrices, makes them particularly dangerous adversaries for the magically-inclined to deal with. Regrettably, fighting them is often the only option. A Son of Oukranos cannot be reasoned with. They chitter and peer from behind black eyes without a shred of humanity. The Sons' behavior shifts anywhere from curiosity to lethargy to outright aggression, seemingly at random. The only reliable behavior they seem to display is an uncanny interest in other creatures' brains. When defeating an opponent, the Son will attempt to carefully slice open their skull so as not to damage the grey matter within. The purpose behind this activity is unknown, but perhaps should not be speculated too deeply on. Especially if, as theorized by Hashinara Yoshitakatomo, it is related somehow to their means of reproduction.
