Witnear

The third of the gods that Ba-Rhad summoned.

Titles- The Anonymous, The Wise Monk, The Unburnt

Domains- Knowledge, Trickery, Arcana

Symbol- A bandaged hand

Personality- Witnear is a goddess of secrets, layered truths, and the wisdom found not in revelation, but in restraint. She does not shout from mountaintops. Instead she whispers behind veils. Her presence is felt most in silence, in the pause before a confession, in the locked door of a forbidden archive, and in the blink that hides a lie. She values discretion above devotion, and understanding over zeal. Witnear encourages doubt, critical thought, and cunning, often testing her followers with riddles, coded messages, and paradoxes. Her will is seldom direct. Instead, her chosen often find themselves walking a path of questions where each answer raises more.

Clergy- Witnear's faithful are few but potent. There are no grand temples, no street preachers. Her clergy are archivists, spies, investigators, librarians, and inquisitors. They operate quietly, sometimes in public roles, sometimes in absolute secrecy. Most notable are the Order of The Silent, who act as both her sword and pen in the province of Silent. These monks and agents often wrap their bodies in dark-stained bandages, bearing her holy symbol in reverence and anonymity.

Clerics of Witnear are expected to gather truths, protect dangerous knowledge, and bury what should never be known. They record everything, trust few, and teach that knowledge without discretion is a weapon best turned inward. New initiates must pass trials of perception, endurance, and moral ambiguity before being allowed to speak her name aloud.

Legacy- Witnear's influence shapes the Oligarchy from the shadows. Her followers have unraveled necromantic conspiracies, silenced Hedge Witches/Wizards, and uncovered ancient threats buried by time. It is whispered that the Mirror-Archive, deep within the province of Silent, contains records of every sin committed by the Noble Houses, every spell forbidden by the Mage Circles, and every god that has ever fallen from grace.

Though feared by the other gods’ followers and ignored by pompous Nobles, Witnear endures because she is necessary. Someone must carry the burden of knowing. Someone must choose what is revealed and what is forgotten. And that someone is always watching.
