Personal history
A former general, Shardia has long preferred a direct approach to dealing with other lands and has gradually been increasing the size of her forces. The infiltrators' lack of success in eliminating the rulers of Caresnas seems to have reinforced her belief that a more visible force will be required to protect her kingdom. Her approach has helped to improve relations with her land's long time time allies, the dwarves of Magrannor Halls, but this does little to improve her own peoples' view of her.
Like her predecessors Shardia has trained in the Hummingbird style of swordplay. In Shardia's case this was more than just learning enough to uphold the family tradition and she is counted among the masters of the style. Though not as quick as she once was, Shardia has taken her example from her first sword instructor, Rillion Sunpetal, and compensates for decreasing speed by minimising the movements she needs to make. No matter what her other duties might entail Shardia invariably makes time to practice with her sword every day, with members of her bodyguard pressed into acting as her sparring partners. Since they shared the same master Shardia also calls upon Astald Siannodel to act as her sparring partner whenever Astald visits the capital.

Reign
While Shardia has the loyalty of most her people there are some who are keen to see her deposed. Her reign has not seen any notable improvements in her people's quality of life, and many blame her for the failures in maintaining control of the lesser races. In upholding her family's tradition of revering nature over and above the gods she has put herself in conflict with those of the Church of the Starbrow, and the tension between the royal family and the church is something of an open secret.
Family Ties
Shardia is married to Lellyn Gemflower, and they have two children, Hellia and Cenollyn. Shardia's brother Lophren is a cleric of Starbrow which puts a bit of a strain on their relationship.
