History & Usage
Manufacturing & Products
While this bark has little use on it's own, and is infact slightly poisonous, it can be used to create more powerful healing potions. It is not effective in boosting the common alchemical based potions but when it is powdered it can help a magically imbued potion retain more healing energy, improving it's effectiveness.
The bark needs to be powdered within two weeks of being harvested. This carries it's own dangers as the powder can cause damage to the lungs if breathed in. The powder retains it effectiveness indefinitely if stored in an airtight glass or ceramic container. If placed in a metal or wooden container the poeder is likely to corrode it.
Unfortunately carenlas trees have not been easy to grow outside of Griboli and they are difficult to find even there. Harvesting the bark also carries certain dangers. For it to be effective the bark must be harvested from a living tree. Unfortunately the carenlas is host to some nasty insects, which live just neath the bark. Attempting to remove the bark from a tree can result in a swarm of beetles emerging. A few bites from these poisonous beetles is enough to render a person unconcious and if left alone the beetles will consume them over the course of a week.
Bark harvested from a dead tree will appear similar but is unable to boost the effectiveness of a potion. What's worse is that it will make what was meant to be a healing potion into a deadly poison.
