C10-95-04-13 - Regent Appointed
The loss of a leader can paralyse a community. Throughout history there have been numerous examples of countries that fell apart due to a lack of clear leadership. Fortunately The Magrannor Halls do not lack for leadership. While the loss of The Magrannor is a serious blow, our uniquely resilient government has the Senior Clan Leaders who are heavily involved in the day to day running of the Halls.
However, even these experienced decision makers need a single voice to provide a clear direction if there are to be at their most effective. Past experiences with the sudden loss The Magrannor (usually not in as tragic circumstances as those facing us today) led to the creation of a mechanism that allows for that single voice even as we await the appointment of the next Magrannor.
At the request of the most senior member of Clan Magrannor, Bronwyn daughter of the late Nulgin Magrannor, the widely respected Galen Stonesmith has been appointed as regent. Regent Stonesmith will be considered to have all the authority of The Magrannor until the successor is officially appointed. At a meeting of the Senior Clan Leaders it was agreed that the powers of the regent would sit with Galen for an initial period of two weeks, though this can be extended should there prove to be any difficulties over the succession.
For the duration of the regency Bronwyn Magrannor, or her representative given her grief at the death of her father, will represent her clan’s interests at meetings of the Senior Clan Leaders. This arrangement has worked well in the past as helps a potential successor get to grips with the issues affecting the Halls prior to them having to take on the full responsibilities of The Magrannor.
