221 / 03 / 23 - Patrollers Murdered in East Bank
On Elday 20 Roth a warehouse in East Bank was attacked by a group of spellcasters and warriors. There was nothing subtle about the assault as the group of attackers walked up to the main door in the middle of the day and demanded entrance. When the guard on duty refused to let this group barge into a private property, the group began throwing spells and swinging swords. Witnesses report seeing a cloud of magical lights appearing on the street which seemed to paralyse anyone who went near it. There were also reports of bolts of glowing energy being hurled into the building, and ghostly figures accompanying the group of attackers. Several people sensibly ran to fetch the patrol, and it wasn't long before a squad of 4 patrollers arrived to restore order.
Witnesses report that the patrollers were met outside by a building by two of the attackers, a tall shifter in bright yellow armour wielding a glowing sword and a human in leather armour. According to those who could overhear the conversation, the pair made no secret of the fact that they had attacked those inside the building, and even indicated where the rest of their group was. They claimed to have been mounting a rescue, and while the shifter seemed to accept the need forthe patrol to restrain them, the human was quite vocal in objecting. Nonetheless both were restrained and left under the watch of one of the patrol, while the other three went to question the indicated group over by a nearby well.
Witnesses claim that it was at this point that a dragonborn child appeared out of nowhere, attacking the patroller left to guard the prisoners. The child then freed the human and the pair began running off. The other three patrollers responded by running back to the prisoners. Only to be met by a barrage of bolts of coloured energy thrown by the human prisoner. Throughout all this the shifter in yellow armour remained bound and not trying to escape until one of the patrollers fell down injured infront of him, at which time he apparantely tried to help the injured patroller. It was while the shifter was attempting to administer a potion to the guard that the human and the dragonborn child took steps to murder the patrollers as they lay on the ground stunned by the human's brutal magical assault. With the patrollers dead, the shifter was dragged away by the human and they disappeared into an alleyway. The other half of the group, including a muscular human male in chanmail and two male gnomes (one with distinctive blue hair), literally disappeared during the conflict, presumably through the use of a spell.
The patrol are offering a reward of 10 silvers for information leading to the arrest of this group, currently believed to be a mercenary company that has gone rogue. Citizens are advised not to try to approach the group and to get in contact with the Patrol if they have any information. Judging by the shifter's actions at least some of the group may be acting under duress and Captain Vyken Guardian has promised that only those members of the group directly responsible for the murders will be prosecuted.
