220 / 10 / 01 - Changing of the Guard

Following the restructuring of the inner and outer guard last month, the council has reviewed the need for the position of Commander of the guard. This role, long held by Stonewall, was meant to cover both the inner and outer guards, with a captain given responsibility for each part of the guard. Now that the inner guard has been turned into the Patrol, and with it's captain reporting directly to council a motion was raised around the possibility of removing the position of commander.
Councillor Nikolai Hunter volunteered to conduct a review of the Commanders duties and submitted his findings on Marday evening. In short, he determined that with the reduction in responsibility the position of commander now duplicated the duties of the Captain of the outer guard and was redundant. The review also found that the responsibilities of the Captain of the Eastside Lancers was not comparable to those of the captains of the inner and outer guards. As a result of the review the council has agreed that they will remove the position of commander of the guard when the current Commander's term is up. After this point, the captain of the outer guard will report directly to the council. The position of Captain of the Eastside Lancers will also be removed. The unit will be led by a Lieutenant who will report to the Captain of the guard.
