WorldEmber Homework 2023

I'm starting this a little late because I got distracted with finishing my Spooktober article, fixing the coding, and working on some story things, but I finally got to the homework article! This probably won't be very professional in any way, especially with my scatterbrained state.

Week 1: Pledge and Focus Area

My focus area for this year is probably going to be basic articles, mostly about planets and organizations. I think my article on the CKGs is bigger than a stub, so I won't be able to change the date and use it, but I might finally create TT Law Firm, which would be cool. I have at least two planets I can create new articles for and I might also work on writing articles about magic and how it works in the Tread of Darkness.
In conclusion: I'm going to focus on the Tread of Darkness and basic articles explaining how the world works, possibly other articles if anything comes to mind while I'm working.

Week 2: Mini-Meta, Organization, and Inspiration

I don't think I've ever done a mini-meta before, nor have I completely filled out the overall meta for any of my worlds. I'll try to do a short little thing on what I'm planning to do for this WorldEmber.

Mini-Meta: Janya Galaxy

Scope: All across the Janya galaxy
Theme/Genre: Sci-fi Fantasy with themes of power, family, friendship, and good vs evil
Goals: To expand the world through articles about planets and organizations
Drama: The Visoran Army is slowly creeping across the galaxy, attempting to conquer eveything in its path, and only an organization comprised of kids and teenagers is willing to stand up to them.

I regularly go over my organization for Tread of Darkness as well as Jerde, so I'm confident that it's up to date. I try to sort articles into categories as soon as they're published unless I'm rushing, stressed, or short on time. I've just done another check, so I should be good.

Week 3: Reviewing the Homepage

If I'm being honest, I don't have a lot of fancy things on my homepage. Because I have a low-level membership, many features are not available to me. I also like to keep introductions simple, so even if I had additional features, I don't think I'd use them. Because of that, my homepage is rather basic. I've got my introduction, which I wrote last year and checked recently, my table of contents, my timeline, which isn't very full, and the recent articles.
I did add a subheader underneath the world name, an excerpt from the prologue of my book. I also updated the notes at the bottom of the introduction to say that this world is my setting for WorldEmber 2023 and removed a notice about the timeline I forgot to remove in October. That's all I did to update my homepage, but I don't believe it needs much else. If anyone thinks I should modify or clarify certain things, please inform me!

Week 4: Last Minute Prep

I can't believe there are only two days left until WorldEmber! I'm both nervous and excited. I got really busy over the past weekend and am just now recovering from that. I spent a lot of time talking with friends, though, which is great. I've got a few I can rely on for support throughout December while writing, which is great.

I've got a few things to clean up tomorrow, including my laptop tabs and desk area. I've gathered my notes into two locations, digital and hard copy, so I'm all good there. I'll take pictures as needed and see if I can use some I've already taken. I'll likely write in the late morning (for me) and sometimes in the afternoons, and evenings will be for holiday preparations (I'm making one gift and I need to invest a lot of time in it).

I'll try to work on some writing exercises, but I don't really know if those help me. I'm going to experiment with different narration styles for some of my articles, such as using a conversation/lecture style rather than my usual style of filling in the template sections. I'll use those styles for articles I find hard to divide and explain in parts, such as my possible article on magic (I really want to do it, but I only have a vague idea of how to explain it).

Inspirations

I knew this was going to be a big section because almost everything I read, watch, or see inspires me in some way. In fact, so many things have inspired this world that I don't really know what originally started it. I know for certain that Star Wars is what inspired the galaxy and many elements of that, but I don't remember what I based the CKGs on or where certain story arcs came from. If I were to write a list of everything, it would be too long to attach.
As World Anvil, there are several worlds and people I've taken inspiration from. Etrea by Serukis is one of the first worlds I followed and I structure my articles in a similar way to many of the articles in Etrea. I follow several worlds by AmélieIS and all of them have inspired me to write with humor and voice, even if I don't actually do it. Wordigirl has also become an inspiration with her friendliness and creativity, inspiring me to be more encouraging with comments and responses.
