Visor (VIH-zohr)

Located a few sectors from Geranium and twice that distance from Zenricho, Visor is the home planet of the Visoran people and their army, which is slowly conquering their way toward Zenricho.

Geography

Located several sectors away from Zenricho, Visor is a small planet with no mountains or

oceans. Most of Visor's surface is flat plains or sprawling forests, with occasional cities and towns scattered across the planet, connected by a variety of roads. There are seventeen major cities and at least three times that many smaller towns, as well as two main military bases and six weapons factories.   Beneath the surface, Visor teems with metallic ores. The Visoran people have
taken great care to preserve their planet, however, and there are only three mines on the entire planet, with most of the mining taking place miles below the surface. The air pressure in these tunnels is actually rather high compared to the same depths on other planets and workers can spend more time in them. The materials mined from the core are used for buildings, weapons, and fuel.

Fauna & Flora

Visor's plains are covered with narxa grass, an acid-green plant found on three other planets besides Visor. Despite its color, Narxa grass is neither toxic nor poisonous and is considered a decent substitute for more common greens in Visoran salads. It is not widely sought-after for food or dyes but is grown in large quantities for livestock. Another plant found on only a few other planets is the violet rose, a normal flower aside from its purple color.

Visor has no unique wildlife. All animal species native to the planet can be found elsewhere in the galaxy. Much of the livestock has been brought to the planet by colonists, with native animals not suitable for farming. There are only a few species of birds, mostly plain dwellers. There are also very insect species but large populations of the ones that do exist.

History

Visor was discovered in the year 317 BPC. It was settled shortly after its discovery. The people who settled on Visor were mostly refugees from the recent Nashta Genocide combined with runaways from Joinen. The settlers built their first city, Timare, in a few short years and surrounded it with farms and the beginnings of a forest. By the time another wave of settlers arrived in 314 BPC, the two groups had found an easy rhythm of living: the Nashta refugees farmed, provided food, and worked on terraforming the planet, and the Joinen runaways mined materials and built structures.   The new arrivals struggled to find their place in this arrangement but soon were accepted

as leaders, teachers, and doctors. With these three main groups working together, Visor blossomed as an independent planet for the next few hundred years. During this time, the Visorans created their own government and built more towns, roads, and cities. Their farms grew in size and production, allowing even more farms to sprout up and create new settlements. The miners drafted laws to protect their planet from overuse. Having seen what happened to Joinen, none of the former slaves wanted
to destroy this new home they had found, regardless of how long it took to make their planet perfect for them.   In 94 BPC, a mining corporation associated with Joinen attempted to take control of Visor. Desperate to remain free, the Visorans formed their own army and fought back. Despite the corporation's strength, the Visoran Army was able to drive them away. The army was kept to protect the planet, even after Visor joined the IPA shortly after the Polaris Collapse and it was no longer needed. During their time in the IPA, the Visorans built more roads and cities and continued to defend their planet’s resources.   In 751 APC, a new man came to power on Visor. This man, General Karol, took over the entire government and rebuilt the army. With Karol in charge, Visor left the IPA and separated from all other planets. The army grew steadily, with Karol rapidly instituting a draft for everyone over the age of seventeen and occasionally dropping the age for "exceptions". This new regime has lasted for the last 250 years, with the Visoran Army beginning its campaign to conquer the galaxy six years ago.

Climate

Visor has been classified as a prairie world in the past but has now shifted into a multi-biome after continuous and dedicated terraforming. Although still mostly covered in plains, forests have been planted to cover large areas of the planet's surface. Wells were also dug and water was brought from other planets to create additional rivers and lakes. Visor's atmosphere has also changed marginally and produces more rainfall than it had when the planet was first colonized, although storms are far less common than on other planets. Temperatures are generally warm and the winters are mild.
It's often hard to believe that Visor was terraformed by a bunch of refugees and runaways. Those Nashta people knew what they were doing when they planted forests. Not to mention how skilled the miners were to prevent their tunnels from going anywhere near the cities. Joinen slaves were clearly superior to the ones on Maynrel.

A Forgotten Legacy

As many in the spheres of history know, Visor was settled and domesticated primarily by former slaves and the survivors of a mass genocide. For hundreds of years after, this fact was Visor's crowning glory: that everything they had built and made here was thanks to those that most of the galaxy considered as nothing. The Visorans remembered their origins and protected their planet from those who wished to use it, even forming an army to protect it from a mining corporation.   However, since General Karol has taken control, this part of Visor's history has been forgotten. No longer do the Visorans remember where they truly came from or what their goals were. All that the Visorans know now is war, and unless the current General Karol is deposed, it may remain that way forever.
