Tachayiy

Located just two systems away from Zenricho, Tachayiy is an ocean planet with no natural landmasses above sea level. It is not the only ocean planet in the galaxy, but it is the largest and closest to the center of the galaxy.

Geography

Tachayiy is the perfect example of an ocean planet. Its entire surface is covered in water, with no landmasses above the surface. The seabed is miles below the water level, although there are underwater cliffs, caverns, and trenches.   A single city is located above water, supported by metal beams that are attached to an underwater ridge. The city was built by humans so they could trade with Tachayiy's native sentient species, the Mer. The Mer live in underwater cities that no human has ever seen and mostly keep to themselves, only coming up to the surface to trade for certain things.

Natural Resources

Tachayiy has an abundance of silver and platinum veins in its underwater caves. Mer will mine it out and trade it to humans and Dito for various resources, especially salt, diamonds, and sugar. Pearls are also a valuable novelty from Tachayiy, as is seafood.

History

Tachayiy was discovered by humans around 4500 BPC or so. It had already been populated by the Mer, who greeted humans with open hostility until the humans decided it would be too much work to try and build cities or lower the sea level and settled for trading with the Mer. The only city accessible by air-breathing species was built around 100 BPC and its inhabitants joined the Interplanetary Peace Alliance in 50 BPC.

Author's Notes

Pulled this one out of nowhere. Like, I knew it existed, but I made up half of the stuff in the process of writing.   Written for Mochi's Unofficial Challenge, because I like to overwhelm myself.
