Sympathetical Lesieux

Sympathetical is the current leader of The CKGs. She has been a CKG for eight years and the leader for two.
Sympathetical shook her head, her lips drawing down into a frown. "We don't have enough people. That's always been the problem. They have both numbers and experience."

Personal history

Sympathetical and her twin sister Pitical were born on Geranium in 983 APC. Their parents worked office jobs in the city and spent most of their time working. The two girls were always very close, with few arguments lasting longer than a day. Although identical in appearance, the two had vastly different opinions on many things. Sympathetical was the decisionmaker, the one with the plan and the knowledge to execute it, while Pitical was the idealist and actor, the one to put plans in motion and the determination to see them through.

Pitical wanted to join the CKGs and Sympathetical was the one who suggested it to their parents. When the girls were nine, they entered the CKG programs and began their training. Pitical went the route of a pilot, while Sympathetical entered the Command programs. While in training, Sympathetical met and befriended a boy named Rolland. The two rarely interacted outside of training, but Sympathetically secretly considered him her favorite person after Pitical.
The girls graduated from classes before they were thirteen and quickly took positions in the CKGs. Sympathetical became an aid in the Command group, where she worked closely with Rolland. For several years, Sympathetical was content with her position, only rising a few ranks thanks to her levelheadedness and ability to keep a straight face. Her sister completed missions with her squadron and Rolland became a communications officer.
When Sympathetical was fourteen, she received terrible news. Rolland had gone MIA on a mission to check communication posts and was presumed dead. His loss destroyed Sympathetical, who realized as she sobbed in her sister's arms that night, unable to explain what happened, that she had fallen in love with Rolland.
If only she had realized sooner, if only she had known, if only she had said something. Now there was nothing but silence.
— Ready Now
Rolland's death changed something in Sympathetical. Until then, she had seen the CKGs as nothing more than a path toward the future and the Visoran War as simply a challenge to overcome on the way. Now, she knew precisely how dangerous the Visorans really were. Sympathetical turned her grief and pain into fuel and poured herself into work, climbing the ranks of the CKG Command until, just before she turned fifteen, she became the overall general of the CKGs as a whole.
Pitical was chaos and complexity, a storm of a person, and Sympathetical was the eye of that storm, a single figure of stability and calm that interpreted everything Pitical threw at her. Sympathetical had dragged herself up the ranks of the CKGs, a steely gleam in her blue eyes that Pitical had never known the reason for.

While not the youngest general in history, Sympathetical rose to leader faster than anyone else once she set her mind to it. Once she was instated, the CKGs began to focus on the war and improving their fighting skills. Sympathetical's steely determination helped her hold her stance on officer promotions and military decisions. Under her leadership, the CKGs have been able to hold their ground against the Visorans despite their lack of numbers and experience. However, Sympathetical is determined to see the war through whether they win or lose.

Education

Sympathetical and her sister attended primary and grade school in their hometown before they entered the CKG training programs. Sympathetical entered the command officer courses, which included classes on leadership, strategy, and interpersonal relationships. Her grades were always high and her dedication to her work was evident.

Six hours of sleep a night on average isn't good for your body at your age, Sym. Stop ignoring me. Get back here. Sympathetical! For the love of...you're going to kill yourself one day!

Personality

Sympathetical is calm and intelligent. She plans things out in advance and makes decisions after considering all the information she has. Her levelheadedness helps her with decision-making and strategy, allowing her to evaluate situations calmly and carefully. Sympathetical is often seen as distant from her family and subordinates, but she has a close relationship with her sister and maintains a friendly presence with the other CKGs. Her past losses have caused her to be careful with attachment. The only person she allows herself to obviously care about is her sister.

Author's Notes

I don't know why this took so long. Unfortunately, Sympathetical's importance to my story is such that I can't give away many details, so I apologize if it seems pretty lackluster. I'm glad I was able to finish this article by my own deadline, though.   Written for Lady Wynter's Ink & Essence Challenge.
