Haspanic Civil War
Also called the Haspanic War, this conflict between Haspanic's ruling council and a faction of farmers in the south destroyed miles of farmland and killed over 12,000 people. Following the war's end, Haspanic joined the Interplanetary Peace Alliance and disbanded all armed forces.
"Isn't Haspanic the world that had a huge civil war several hundred years ago?"
"Yeah, but that was super long ago! We're so much more peaceful now."
The Conflict
Prelude
In the years leading up to the conflict, the ruling council implemented a specific fertilization technique to make all produce of uniform quality. While most of the planet agreed with this decision, a faction of farmers located in the south of Haspanic disagreed. These farmers insisted on using their own techniques and continued to push against the council.
Deployment
In July of 266 APC, the ruling council sent a delegation of soldiers and officials to force the southerners to comply. Furious, the southern faction met the delegation on the road and attacked them. Several members of the delegation were killed and most of the survivors were imprisoned. The public reacted angrily to this attack and the ruling council sent more soldiers south to deal with the rebellious faction. The southern faction roused their own militias, headed north, and the war began.
Battlefield
Most of the civil war's battles were fought across Haspanic's miles of farmland or on the roads between sectors. The southern faction controlled most of the grain sector and refused to move north, forcing the council's troops to meet them on their turf. Because the south knew their territory well, they were able to set traps and launch ambushes.
Outcome
In 317 APC, the IPA finally stepped in to stop the war. After fifty years of fighting, most of the people were tired and agreed to the terms set by the interveners. All militias were disbanded and the IPA set guidelines, many of which favored the ruling council. However, most of the southerners had lost their drive and were content to simply live in peace.
Because much of the war had been fought on farmland, miles of grain fields were ruined. A few colonies had also been sacked and destroyed. The casualties of the fight were minimal compared to other wars in the galaxy, but nearly 13,000 soldiers were killed and at least a hundred civilians went missing.
Sometimes I don't know why we kept fighting. I think, after the first few years passed, we just wanted to prove we could
Aftermath
With the IPA's help, Haspanic soon rebuilt the destroyed colonies and replanted the ruined farmland. A standardized fertilization technique was agreed on by both the council and the southern faction and implemented globally. In December of 318 APC, the council decided to join the IPA officially for protection after disbanding their armed forces. The negotiations were delayed due to arguments, but Haspanic officially joined the IPA on January 28, 317.

Author's Notes
I know I wrote stuff about the war in my Haspanic article, but I wanted to get out better details. The first quote is from a deleted chapter I've kept as a reference.
