Fusion

The Power of Two in One

Fusion is a technique that blends magic with control of ones chi, allowing two or more individuals to combine into one greater being. This can be used for a number of purposes, but is most notable for its ability to increase the combat potential of two fighters, allowing them to increase their power a great deal to win battles.

Methods

There are two ways to fuse. The first is with a mightem of the God Janus, mimicking the way his angels are made. The angels of Janus are two of his most devoted followers, combined into one via his magic. For them, this fusion is permanent. For mortals, the item works only for an hour, and then unfuses them.

The other method of fusion is more widely available in theory, but has been pulled off by so very few people. First, it requires that the chi levels and magical levels of the two involved are exactly equal, and that they are matched in all areas. It asks also that both are intent on a shared goal, whatever that may be. Then, finally, they must come together for an embrace. Only then can they combine, fusing into one being who is meant to be representative of the shared love, affection, or care between the two.

Powers

Once fused, the might of the individual doubles, as does their magical ability. The two wills still wrestle for control, but for some this can be a great strength, as the two can share a goal or agree on many things. For others, this can make fusion incredibly unstable, causing it to last a shorter period of time or even break apart instantly. The same can happen if the powers become imbalanced or if they try hard enough to break apart.

Their minds are shared during this time, allowing them to jointly work together without speaking aloud. This can have consequences of the fused retaining these thoughts even after unfusing. Their shared minds go away, but the memories they shared can remain.   Some fusions have been able to combine their abilities together as well, allowing for incredible spells that would otherwise be unachievable with one singular mage.

Special Fusions

There are a few types of fusions, some fully proven and others theoretical, which cannot be counted with all other types. These will be listed below.

Blessed Fusion

It is said that with the blessing of Janus and Leigong together, a fusion can occur. Due to the fact that the two have not been on speaking terms since their own fusion, this is more speculation than it is fact, but if it is possible, it would certainly be the strongest possible type of fusion.

The Original Fusion

The myth of fusion can be traced back to a story told of the two Gods, Janus and Leigong. Leigong was known to hold back, despite being the God of Strength, saving his power for when it was most necessary.   The tricky Janus, however, had enemies he wished to teach a lesson. He had a grudge against the Goddess of Greed, Helle, and Satanael, God of Trade. However, Janus is known to be one of the weakest Gods, and the duo of Helle and Satanael are too clever for his tricks to work on them. He needed a new trick. One that would outmatch even those two powerful deities.   Thus, he created an item, gifting it to the solemn Leigong. At first, Leigong did not want it, as he does not covet possessions and saw no worth in it.   However, Janus pressured him into wearing it, saying it would be rude to deny a gift from a friend. Leigong, not wishing for Janus to spread a rumor of rudeness that Leigong did not exhibit, accepted the gift and wore the item. Janus wore a matching one, and it began.   Fusion.   Together, they formed the very first fusion: Leinus, God of Dual Strength. A being that combined the greatest aspects of them both, discarding Leigong's patient persona with the guile of Janus, and replacing the tricky magic of Janus with the mighty strength of Leigong.   They were unstoppable. Helle, Satanael, and many other Gods fell before the might of Leinus, as Leigong's will was overwritten by that of Janus. Mixed together, the more active mind took precedent.   It became a great threat to peace, one that all the Gods knew needed to be dealt with. But none were able to do anything against the fusion.   Only when Izanagi, King of the Gods, arrived, was Leinus held back, though even Izanagi could not match the power of Leinus. It took a favor from Mimir, God of Secrets, to unfuse Leinus, and as punishment, Tartarus imprisoned Janus for a hundred years, while Leigong kept at a great distance from Janus for a considerably longer period of time.

Wishful Fusion

A fusion brought about by Genies, Wishful Fusion is said to be possible if one makes the wish to fuse in the presence of a Genie. A Genie can, after all, grant three wishes to anyone, and one of those could be to fuse. However, the only way to undo a Wishful Fusion is with another wish, and if either person in a fusion has already been given three wishes, the fusion cannot be undone.   Genies can, however, fuse with each other by nature. They can do so willingly, lending power to each other to become one ultimate Genie, but it has also been known to be possible through force, with Genies absorbing others and growing considerably stronger.

Individuation

Individuation is a subtechnique of fusion, an ultimate version of it that has been theorized in many studies, but never pulled off. It fuses not just two people, but a potentially infinite amount of people, and it does not make them one combination of their willpower, but instead combines their willpower into added power for the host who began the process. Instead of creating an individual, it strengthens an already existing individual with the power of tens, hundreds, even thousands of others, willing or unwilling.   It is said that Individuation would bind the bodies and souls of a collective together, with one individual will leading the others, forming a new body for this individual. Fusing together into a new creature, a potentially all powerful monstrosity of a person. They could take on any form they want, and there would be no force to stop them.   This is theorized in a scholarly work by the Draconian mage Naexush Neragar, one of the pioneers of Magical Theory, titled "Possiblities Beyond Possibility." This book is a favorite of Magic Theory Professors at the Magic College of Zephys, and it is said that the only copies of it are held in the Clolith Library, as it could be dangerous to allow Neragar's ideas to be too widespread on the offchance they were truly possible.
