The Pint in the Window
As long as society is not on our side, we will do our work in the shadows. Our work is too important to let fear stop us.During the Lomian reign over Tosormi, slavery was a common thing. This was how The Lomians were used to do things in the home country, and it was how they were going to do it here. As the resistance rose against this slavery of The Rooted, the organization known as The Strongest Link was created. Obviously this was not something those in power liked one bit and they came down hard on the organization. But the Links are a tenacious group and they weren't going to stop just because someone told them to. To be able to meet up and plan actions they came up with several different methods over the years. The one that has gotten the most famous afterwards is the empty glass pint on the window sill. It was used to signify that a meeting were to take place in that house, and it was most often combined with a password of some sort that had been decided on in the previous meeting. This combination of a visible sign in the window and a password proved effective, as it was never discovered by the ruling class.
The End of Slavery
The Links were the main driving force behind the ending of slavery of Rooted in Tosormi. They fought for the freedom of all for decades before the Lomian Empire eventually agreed and stopped the systematic slavery of people based on ethnicity. Despite all their best efforts, however, it can not be said that slavery is completey abolished from Tosormi. Even now, with the Empire gone, slavery occurs in the forms of debt and work slavery. The Links are still active and continues to work for everyone's right to freedom.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
It's short but fulfilling. I like the idea of an empty glass pint on the window sill used to signify secret meetings. That opening quote really sets the tone.
Thank you! :)
